In the early 80s I knew a colleague at work who was a Jehovah

He would proclaim that the world as we know it would end in 1984 as was written in the Bible.

Apparently it is written that a man who sees a worldwide war will also see the end of the world, i.e born 1914,

plus 3 score and 10 = 1984 = end of the world. He was not certain that in 1984 all non Jehovahs would vanish, or whether Jehovahs would be carried up to Paradise. Whenever he would moan about his mortgage repayments, we would say " Why not rent until 1984 and then you will be in Paradise, or all non Jehovahs will have vanished and you can move into Buckingham Palace? Curiously, these Jehovahs still come knocking on my door.

How can this be? They have all been in Paradise since 1984.

Unless (gasp gasp) it was all a big con and that the inventor of this religion was a womanising crook.

I believe that a small rethink is required.
