Internet explorer problem - can anyone help with this error message ?

We normally use Internet Explorer to connect to the internet. However for the last couple of days we cannot do so - we get the following message on screen as soon as we have double clicked on the Explorer icon ;



Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library

Runtime error

program:C:\Programe File\Windowslive\messenger\msnmsgr.exe

Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact application support team for more details.

This window is on display for a minute and then goes off and we are back to desktop.



Can anyone help to sort this out so that we can access the internet normally (well as normal as possible with Extend ha ha) I can access via Google but still prefer msn (which is also our homepage and automatically lets us know when we have emails).

Please could you give any answers in "computer illiterate mode" so that i understand them lol . Thanks

go to - control panel

then - add remove programs

find and click on - windows live messenger

Finally - click on remove and follow instructions



Restart your computer and try again..

yrys88 - thanks for that i will try that when i get back home.

Static-X - I did say please answer "computer illiterate mode" maybe what i should have said is "idiots guide" ! I have heard of firefox but have not got a clue what it is/how you get it or how to use it ! Sad i know.

Firefox is just another web browser that helps you surf the internet. It looks like Internet Explorer and to all intents and purposes acts like it too, but without so many security back doors in it. But do be aware that not every page on the Internet is Firefox friendly. Although I had to laugh the other day when I found that Internet Explorer 8 was not really compatible with the Abbey National Online Banking site.

To get Firefox just type Firefox into any search engine and click through to download it.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully i will be able to get it sorted out over the weekend - then all i have to do is sort out Extend !!!!! What chance of that lol
