Hi all, Yesterday britvic posted on here her observations, very tongue in cheek, and [ i thought ] very funny too. In no way was it offensive to anyone just a sideways look at the type of conversation's that seem to follow some post's on here. It was cosed down by No1 Doyen [ bill ] after just 1hr 18 mins because in his opinion it served no purpose...Well hold on there Bill !!!! "Served no purpose" incorrect there i'm afraid, i thought it was a very wry posting and should have been left to run it's course, surely humour is not totally against 44s rules. I understand the need to moderate certain posts but you had no right to close this post after such a short time. Could it be that the statement "serves no purpose" is very close to home ? Regards

Thank you eager, I was wondering the same thing, I think it was because on the thread I asked you a personal question and that's not allowed, I can't however understand why that one post wasn't 'edited'.

I suppose I should have emailed Bill and asked the question directly

Cyprus44 and Cyprus Today are excellent media to communicate with other expats - if one wishes to do so. Communicate, I mean.

I have to agree that Britvic's post was very comical and apt and a good exchange was starting to take place. There are loads more threads on here that "Serve no purpose", that are allowed to go on indefinately.

Should have also said, there are many occasions when posters ask personal questions, so I don't believe that should have been used to close the fread.

The thread was serving no purpose.

In my opinion the post was intended to cause problems. Pointing out peoples spelling mistakes isn’t what it’s all about – the poster doesn’t do it on her own forum so why do it here? Pointing out that certain other posters occasionally ask each other questions on here serves no purpose. Making fun of other people’s posts also serves no purpose.

Finally, No! it isn’t a power thing for us ‘mods’ as was pointed out on the other forum, we try to do our best and keep the forum running as we see fit. If that doesn’t meet with some peoples view of how we should moderate then unfortunately that’s tough!

RE msg 8, britvic: (...) DutchCrusader I am at a loss as to what posts 4 and 5 mean (...)

=> Msg 5 was an unfortunate double posting for which I apologised. In msg 4 I answered fire_starter who asked: "Can I ask does cyprus 44 serve any purpose ??" Btw: I'm so glad you solved your computer problem (re: blank pages...

RE msg 9, fire_starter: (...) Did you eer get the person who did it last time and who did the the North Cyprus Free Press (...)

=> All people involved have made this deal: "We couldn't possibly comment."

No1, The spelling mistake was my own and on a fictional post, it was only meant as light hearted banter and none of those who responded thought any different. People do ask each other questions as sometimes it's the only way to communicate on Cyprus44.

It doesn't really matter now any way as the thread has gone.

Hi Bill

You really dont do yourself any favours suggesting if you dont like it then tough. How egotistical can you get?

There was nothing to hurt anyone in Britvic's thread so why impose your thoughts on everyone else.

I think monitoring the site for rudeness and bad language is a good idea but when there is no harm being done then chill out and let everyone else do their own thing.

In the vein in which you finished your message- if you dont like ityou can always resign!

Is it because I post on another forum? Obviously Bill (No1) monitors the other forum as he knows how I post over their when he said: "the poster doesn’t do it on her own forum so why do it here?"

Her own forum? lol Its not mine!

Bill, don't pay attention to the spoilers, insulters and others (often appearing on not just another board but Nigel's board, please taste the difference...) who are usually and mainly on c44 to get their revenge for some reason or another. I appreciate - and probably other board members do so also - the work of all Admins, though I don't always agree with every decision. So be it. Keep up the good work.

For what it is worth,

This board is getting away from what it was set up to do and that is to help people that are interested in buying/moving/holidaying or just generally interested in the TRNC. It is now (particularly of an evening) being turned into a social/joke network and the amount of crap that people post is unbelievable. Also I find it interesting that certain members (yes you know who you are) will post on other sites complaining about this and that on Cyprus44 but don't have the guts to contact board admin staff directly to find out the reasons for their actions. Also certain members like to try and push the limits as to what they can get away with posting wise. Having stood back from 'moderating' for a while now I will support Bill as I know he is getting frustrated with some of the crap that gets posted here. He has tried a softly softly approach but obviously some posters have not appreciated that.
