I know this game with matchsticks played with two people. The one to pick the last match is the loser. It is very popular with the Scandinavian children. I love this game as long as I win!



The game: It is normally played with 16 matches, arranged in rows of 1, 3, 5 and 7. You pick the matches in turn. You can pick as many as you like only from one grou but you have to pick at least one. As simple as that. The Scandinavian children know the winning combinations, so the first one to start always loses. I solved its mathematics, so I can play with any combination with matches more than 16 in total and always win, no matter who plays first

Any challenges?

I know how to play this one Ismet. The secret is to keep 3 rows going, let our opponent make 2 equal in number and then take out the 3rd row. From then on whatever he does, he is doomed to have the last match.

Not as simple as that mate. Would you take the challenge? Lets say I offer you 1,4,7,9 just to be awkward. You have the choice to decide who plays first. Would you like to have a go? If you decide to play first, write down the remaining numbers. I am off to a wedding!
