Has anyone had a problem regarding their houshold sewage ?

I was looking on a site recently and looking at the sewage system it consisted of pipes from the household (Approx 50 mm wide, and surely not wide enough) running into a small breezeblock square hole in the ground

(With 200mm holes at each side to let the raw sewage seep out).

I would think there are Eco systems, septic tanks available or other solutions.

Thanks for the replies, the thing is if there are wells on site and the "Raw" sewage is not being treated or contained its a recipe for disaster.......

Hi Tatlisu4me,

We have what sounds like a very similar system on our site. A square concrete box in the ground with one pipe in and one pipe out. All these pipes are linked to your neighbours properties but the waste does eventually arrive at a treatment plant at the end of the site. This is supposed to give us back dirty water for the gardens but although it runs and costs a lot of electricity, it has not been finished to give us the dirty water we were promised. If you are not in your property throughout the year, these concrete chambers become blocked up and then you can imagine what a job it is, to clean them out. I know there are simple solutions on the market in the TRNC but getting all owners to agree to do something is difficult.
