I read somewhere the BC is closed for a couple of days. I need to renew my passport and don't want to drive over there to find it closed. Anyone clarify this?

They bloody well better not be! My fiance has an appointment there this Friday, just checked the website, they re-open on Thursday:

The Consular and Immigration sections of the British High Commission at Alexander street and at Shakespeare avenue (29 Mehmet Akif Cad) will be closed to all customers from Monday 7 September to Wednesday 9 September. We will re-open on Thursday 10 September 2009 at 08:00. This closure is due to the installation of a new computer system. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

(Phew! I didn't need that shock so early in the morning!)

;0)

A friend rang a friend who works there who said don't bother coming in till next week. Maybe appointments will be kept but anyone else who just drops in will not be seen.

Oh ok, that was good of you to inform everyone, yes he has an appointment arranged so am sure if they can't see him they will call, they have his contact details!
