Looks like the sparks have been flying between the two leaders, with the greek cypriot leader claiming that turkey remain the biggest obstacle to achieving a solution to solving the cypriot problem.Cant see the justification for this myself.Looks like the greek propaganda band wagon is ready to roll again.Anyone any thoughts,

Regards,

Paul.

hi paul

im not sure where you got your info from mate, because i heard that the u.n spokesman joe diaz for cyprus and both cheif aides for the north's president and the south president will meet in the abandoned nicosia airport tomorrow after a small ceremony they get down to prepare for direct negotiations that will start in june, they will probabley discuss how they can power share in government, how they can incorparate the two economies and many other things, if they cant decide how they going to discuss this now then their is no hope for this to happen in june, lets see what the outcome is by tommorow night

warm regards

Hi Paul,

Isn't negotiation always that way.

Start off with plenty of "good faith" ,handshakes, high profile meeting, with all the worlds press present. Plenty of implied promises.

Phase 2 both sides then leak gross dissapointment with the other . Its called "laying out your stall", but the hard work is put in behind the scenes, to find the areas on which both sides can agree.

Have faith!

Phase 3 is the hard bit, where you tackle the points that both sides don't agree on. This is when you trade off on a point by point basis. This is the real negotiation!

I believe that this time the world want to see the matter resolved, and with that pressure on

them, the leaders are steamrolled into compromise, no doubt with truckloads of EEC money

used to " oil the wheels."

I believe that The TRNC is now in a much stronger position to negotiate, and do not have to go to the negotiating table with a begging bowl.

I hope that for all concerned an amicable settlement can be reached. We have'nt heard what is happenning to the proposed mains fresh water pipeline from Turkey, for a while,

but I feel that this may well form the basis of a settlement, with the EEC picking up the bill, as it is virtually vital for both the north and south,They are rebuilding Gecitkale airport, with the stated reason being to sell citrus fruits grown in NC. for the European market. Won't that

require a substantial amount of irrigation?

As you know, I have other thoughts on the matter, but for now, that adresses your posting.

hi guys

basically the propaganda machine is strarting once again and its true it is coming from the south, they seem to blame turkey now if a solution does not go ahead firstly they are saying and this is from the president of the souths mouth that cyprus is being the victim of the power struggle thats going on in turkey at the moment with the possiablity of the ak party and the president and prime minister being banned from politics, he seems to think he has a insight in to turkish politics becasue he has been president for all but 5 minutes (typical!!!!) he also thinks if the party does get banned and the country cant decide on a new president and prime minister the army will resume power of the government and he knows (again great insight) that the army does not want a solution because they feel they will loose the foot hold of cyprus (what complete rubbish), when the head of the army while in cyprus last week realeased a statement saying until the north cypriot government and its people aswell as turkey feel they are getting a good deal with the procedding on a solution they wont leave!!! he is not saying they will never leave but its got to be good for the turkish people

the other thing the president is saying which is complety a contridication is behind the scenes turkey does not want a solution and he tried to say to u.n major members to apply pressaure on turkey to accept a solution on cyprus, when turkey foreign minister had already sent lettera publically saying turkey are right behind the cause for a solution and this was stated by lynn pascoe the u.n undersecretary general for political affairs

so it does look like the wheels are in motion for another propaganda game played by the biggest actors the south!!!!

and another thing the south issued a statement yesterday after much talks with syria they are now starting their own sea crossing from limasol to syria exactly like i said a few months ago they had this up their sleves complaing about the north and the boat service to syria well it look like they got their way dont it!!!!!!

regards

Hi all,

And it seems to me like they always will get there own way unless someone with some bollocks makes a stand against them.Seems to me that the turk cyps cant win here isnt it them that seem to go out of their way to make it work but just get kicked in the whatsits all the time.

Shouldnt the un have more power to say, hey geeks who do you think your kidding with your propaganda bandwagon, dont you see that people are seeing through it now.I have changed my views now on the situation and honestly think the north would be better on there own as long as they didnt become the forgotten country and embargos were lifted and money was pumped in,

Paul.
