Yesterday I visited my favourite TRNC town, walled Famagusta, once more. It's strikingly clean! Even inside the ruined Lusignan churches and other Gothic buildings, where it used to be a sorry mess (empty bottles, plastic bags etc). A big thank you to the Mayor, Belediye, EMU students and others who removed tons of rubbish. Bravo! The tourists will even more appreciate a stay in this fascinating old city!

With my respect for the young, unsung heroes in Famagusta (EMU students):

RE msg 3, Pipie: You may be interested in the Famagusta part of my web site (all about the medieval i.e. Lusignan-Venetian-early_Ottoman remains including detailed, clickable maps).

Have a look here: http://www.allcrusades.com/CASTLES_COUNTRIES/castles_cyprus_overview-2a.html

As for restaurants: you'll find them around the city center (as well as plenty of tourists and often rather steep tourist prices...). However, there are some places where you'll find the locals and their excellent local food for very reasonable prices. I don't remember the name of the street but if you mail me I'll send you a map with a red dot where to have a nice lunch: hansdoeleman@allcrusades.com .

Include other questions if you have them!

The message at the bottom of the webpage is no longer valid...
