The Scottish team would have deserved at least a draw. This was one of the worst matches I've seen Holland play in their pool - but as they say: it's all about the result. And 8 wins in 8 matches is excellent. But the quality of the Dutch football is absolutely not good enough for South Africa 2010. Maybe the team is, but then they have to work harder and "make" the match, not wait for the opponent dictating the style and the speed (like yesterday). Hope to see the Scots in a pool with Holland again!

The streets in Scotland will be crowded in June and July 2010 as most of the inhabitants will have no telly to watch unless there are repeats of Andy Stewarts welcoming in the new year. All the ginger wigs and plastic thistles will be packed away in the loft for another 4 years gathering dust. As they say in the Eat London pubs,,,, Close, But No Cigar. Haw Haw Michael

Jock Re message 7. A bit rich!!! I don't suppose you would gloating if it was England that were not going to make it cos we all know that the Scots always cheer on England !!!! I was based in Scotland in 1998 when England played Argentina. Went down into Dundee and all the Scots were wearing Argentina shirts !!! Strange when a nation would rather support a country that had been at war with us in the early 80's and were responsible for the deaths of a number of Scots during the battle for Mount Tumbledown !!!!!!!. As for me, I would cheer on any British side provided they weren't playing England. Regards Paul

fiedishpaul Strange when a nation would rather support a country that had been at war with us in the early 80's and were responsible for the deaths of a number of Scots during the battle for Mount Tumbledown !!!!!!!. Remember watching England 2006 in the Pia Bella and along with other Scots there was plenty of banter, but I didnt hear anyone wanting England to lose, though I must admit after your rant about Argentina I might have second thoughts. Dont tar us all with the same brush the same way I wont presume eveyone in England thinks a football game is an excuse to rake over old wars.Presume you werent in Ex Nazi Germany 2006,or were you one of the class act Sun Readers that sang the Dambusters Tune and wore Bomber Command (my grandfather would be turning in his grave)T shirts while getting pissed ,much to the bemusement of rest of Europe. S.Africa 2010,well theres always the Boer War." they dont like it up em,Sir". message 11. Is it any wonder, sometimes?

Message 12 cont. Scots fought and died in far greater numbers in proportion to our population than anyone else , for the UK and/or the Empire. We are quite capable of supporting or watching our ex foes who are now our friends ,without thinking it somehow dishonours our dead or the dead of the opposition.

Message 10 you don't have to remind me what happened at tumbledown!!! I was serving at the time, and i was There!!!!!!! What you fail to understand is if it was a game of tiddlywinks England was playing, we would still be rooting for the other side. Now saying that i have nothing against the English, but when it comes to sport, i nail my colours firmly to the mast and give it laldy.....

Speaking as a totally unbiased son of Scots, may I respectfully point out that you lot only have ten months to save up for at least five replica shirts. (Three group games, one second round, plus quarter final where it will in all probability end. Though please God not to the cloggies.) 5x£45=OUCH!

Not opposed to Engerland doing well in any cup, my, and I think you will find most Scots, will agree it is the English media that put the hackles up. If, and I hope they do well in the rest of the tourniment I will cheer them on. The problem is that the English media have already planned the celebrations when (not if) the England team bring the cup back to Engerland. The media bring every UK team down unless it is Engerland. 100% Scottish girl, know we have a long way to go and it is only in our wildest dreams will the World Cup be won by us but if the media stop the hype I could and will support the only British team left in he WC (not water closet) which ever team it is.

Message 16 Jock1 I am astounded never have I know a long speech like that to come from you. Message 19 Scoop Behave. Like most of the Scots we will watch the England games and kind of support them. You never know hubby might just wear an England top (after all he wore a Hibs one 2 weeks ago when they played Selik). But then again he might not. DC he still owes you 2 beers !!!

Scoop message 21 Selik is the way the Celik fans pronounce Celtic as you well know! (Can be spelt either with an S or a C depending on how nasally the fan is!)

Dear Scots, this is too much! What is "Selik" and what is "at hame"*..?! * "Hame" via Google: "One of the two curved wooden or metal pieces of a harness that fits around the neck of a draft animal and to which the traces are attached." Huh..?!

From hubby of N A Re No17 Make the most of your charmed luck because come 2014 finals you lot will not be able to pronounce far less spell most of your team then. Never mind you will probably be favourites for the Morris Dancing finals. Dutch Crusader there is no animosity at all as long as they stay south of Hadrians wall

Nurseawful I know of at least one hoops fan who can pronounce the name properly, but I would have loved to see George in a Hibs top. He really does suit green pity the thought of wearing a hoops strip turns him the same colour as the green in the shirts. Ha ha. George, now now but please keep the Saltire flying. XX

Just seen on the Sky website that an alternative tournament is being planned for June 2010 where San Marino, Faroe Isles, Andorra and Tristan Di Cuno will play matches to decide the best up and coming football nation. A reliable source was quoted as saying that Scotland applied to enter but were turned down on the grounds that they were considered to weak to participate. Michael
