Hi

My residency expired on 03.09.09 but following a 2 week trip to the UK I didn't return until 02.09.09. I didn't apply before I returned to the UK due to the two week aplication time.

In the meantime I have moved house and not been feeling 100%.

If I am understanding the BRS website correctly, I will be fined TL 1190 even with the residency amnesty. If I have a 90 day visa for coming back in the country, will that be sufficent to avaoid the fine?

Now have Muhtar letter and going to police station first thing tomorrow.

TIA

Carole take your ins and outs document with you.

You were not here illegally, the worst you may get is your residency will have to start again from year one.

Give me a buz if you need more info

How did you get a 90 day stamp when you came back, your residency was still valid?

Explain at the Police station,I dont think they'll take it any further.

If you got a 90 day stamp on the 2nd you should be okay but need to get your skates on. They will back date the yearly stamp to the 4th.

If you are a BRS member I am sure they will give you as correct and up to date advice as they can. (If not why not join them?)

On the very few occasions I've crossed to the South customs have always stamped my passport with 90 days even though halfway through my annual temporary visitor visa date!

Brinsley,

You should have an entry or exit stamped on the white visa slip if you have a temporary residency stamp, thats why they look through your passport to see if the residency stamp is there,if it's not then you get the Üç ay stamp.

I don't think the 90 day visa counts once you've got temporary residency. Once upon a time they used to be very lax about renewals. I remember the 1st couple of years, they didn't care if you were a bit late (a month) at the Police Station but last year we were 3 days late & got a lecture but no fine.

If you explain the circumstances, then hopefully you will be okay. I'm sure that they will now start the renewal earlier than 2 weeks, particularly if you can show that you will be out of the country when the renewal is due.

I now have 8 temporary residency stamps.

They've never stamped the white paper slip, straight into my passport, out and back in. Could be because it's a NZ one, no idea why it should be different to a Brit one.
