Olaytrans local company here in TRNC I have my stuff arriving on monday and will do a blog on the whole shipping procedure. Have spoken to many people using other companies many sub contract and your goods are handled more than once and many just leave you to sort out customs etc this end. The advice we had was so valuable what to do and say regarding goods. We bought over toys (second had infact my childrens lego etc) for my Grandson and customes queried it. Their no is 0392 365 3430 Hummus will answer her English is excellent.

Olaytrans are excellent.

Did our full removal last year. If you want full service they can organise removal company in UK right through dealing with customs here and final delivery.

Contact Hurmus at olaytrans@olaytrans.com her English is excellent and ask anything about removal and she will get answer for You. Olay takes you through all the customs stuff and ensures goods are left at your home safely.

We are buying a holiday home in TRNC (so not actually living there) but need to ship out a small quantity of goods (about 6 cubic metres). We therefore don't need a residence permit but are getting confusing information regarding a temporary import permit. We are told that without this we will pay 40% duty on all goods.

Can anyone tell us how we obtain a temporary import permit and how much it will cost ? Surely you don't have to go to TRNC to obtain this.

Can anyone who has been through the process advise us please. Thanks.

Hi Mick

Have just got our goods via Olaytrans and have e-mailed you off site about it. We have not got our residency yet and did not require anything extra to import goods only paid minimal duty, didn't touch a box all done for us door to indoors here = excellent.

Thank everyone for your help.

I contacted Olaytrans and not only did I gat a prompt reply, I olso got a number of testimonials as to their service, complete with contact numbers, most impressive.

The price they quoted me was very competative, compaired with four others I have contacted.

Hye

We used Olay last year. We had a part container as our goods didn't fill a full one. But then we also imported our car in a "shared container". This really just meant that we were quoted (from Olay) the price fr part container then price to put our car in a shared container (as opposed to Roll on Roll off). What happened was all of our stuff (incl car) came in a containe that had, in our case, a sports companies goods (not much -few jet skis) in and ours ! Worked out much cheaper than "sole container" and we felt safer than car being on Roll on Roll off.

Car was released (we picked it up at Famagust port) before household goods but they were delivered to the door (well to the exact rooms in the house !!) week/10 days later. No import fees due (apart from the car ) except 36ytl licence for 2 TVs and 1 stereo.

Hope this helps someone cos it can be a scarey process !!!

Jock1, can you remember who Olaytrans used at the Scottish end? We are just outside Dundee. Have been making enquiries at this end, but no one seems to want to answer emails in the UK either these days!

Hello again Milou

Totally agree - Olaytrans offer a very good service, which is why I (or rather James Valentine Overseas Removals) chose them as our Partners in NC; they can only be as good as the people who do all the estimating, packing, export wrapping, loading of the containers and the Shipping Lists! And that's us!

+44(0)1302 729595. Email: valentineremovals@hotmail.com

Should be going over next month so hope to meet up with you.

Cheers

Jo

Have only heard good reports from Olaytrans. Its nice when things go right especially when its "your worldly goods" that are in question.

Hi Marvo

We used Dolphin Movers ... no problems at all. It took a bit longer than expected, but not one thing was broken and we did not have to pay import duties. I made a very detailed list of everything, and was as helpful and courteous as possible to the Import guys. Derek in the UK depot at Dolphin was very good, friendly and helpful. We shipped a full container, and was charged around £2,500. It took about 4 weeks for the goods to arrive. We went to the Dolphin agency in Famagusta, and they arranged the delivery of the container to the front door of our house. Great service!
