Hi Nemika

It doesn't really matter how many suitcases/bags you check in as it's the total weight that counts. We have in the past checked in 6 cases but 2 of them contained pillows and quilts which didn't weigh very much.

Hi Nemika - it's total weight for all suitcases, they put all your luggage on the scales and weigh them all together - so sounds like you should be ok.

I'm not really sure about how much the baby can have I think it depends on how old ie. if the baby is under 2 then I don't think they get an allowance but I'm not 100% sure of that. Have you thought of putting the soft toys in a black sack and putting them through as a separate item. We did that once with some rugs. They went on as an oversized item and they didn't weigh them. They just asked what was in the bag. When we said what it was she just shrugged her shoulders. Make sure you put your name and destination on the bag though.

Don't think you'll have an allowance for the baby as he won't have his own seat so it'll be 50kg (25 each for you and your husband), think about Karen's idea of putting the soft toys through as a separate item at the oversize items desk, it really depends how much you've got packed in your other suitcases.

Good luck.

hi nemika

it does not matter how many suitcases you take and whats in them as long as each suitcase does not weigh over 32kg that is the leagal max that baggage handles are allowed to handle its smoething to do with saftey regulations, also a word of advice try and find out if your plane you are on is full or not if it is not then you wont have no problems in taking as many suitcases as you want and dont forget you have got 5kg each hand luggage you can carry on board aswell

hope this helps

Hi nemika, good luck with your move back to trnc..I genuinely believe you be ok with taking ALL your luggage with you and just pay access, which the airline will tell you how much per KG over your allowance. I pay each time taking a little more to the villa. Lisa

hi nemika

the only way really to check if your flight is full or not is to just check the kthy internet site, put in your day you are travelling if the flight comes up then you know there is still places on your flight, the other way to make sure you dont encounter any problems is to arrive really early to the airport to check in before anyone else does, like you said about stansted i have flown with kthy several times and not had any problems with excess baggage and 95% of the time i havent even been charged, for example last july i went back to the u.k and on my return flight back from stansted to turkey me and my other half had 3 suitcases totalling 90kg and loads of hand luggage in total 20kg and did not have one bit of trouble and as usual did not even get charged, i think the check in person see that im flying to turkey and not coming back so they know i live there so they allow it , dont worry thou if the plane is full they wont turn your baggage away just speach them or try and pick a bloke check in person and batter you eyes lids at him or get your husband to chat the woman up that normally works for me!!!! lol

or another way is actually use kthy cargo service this can be a bit more expensive than excess baggage but you got no limit and it is stress free

there telephone number is 0207 925 3934 or email is cargo@kthylondon.co.uk

hope this helps you

warm regards

ukturk

Before we re-located, we called CTA and explained the situation with baggage, and asked if we could have a little extra for the move. The lady was most helpful when I asked simply if our baby could have 25kg on this one flight.

She called back later to confirm was ok and said they had informed the check in desk.

Needless to say when we got there no-one knew anything about it, but with 3 allowances (75kg) buggy, car seat, you can't get much more than that in a car anyway.

However Nemika, they do not weight baby car seat/buggy, and if you explain when checking in that you are moving back, I will be most surprised if they are not sympathetic to the extra luggage especially if you explain that there is a case load for the baby.

Be polite, try it on a little, and blame everything on the baby, they won't argue with an infant. Carry heavy items in the baby change bag.

Carry a coat with big pockets, it's not weighed and you can add small but heavy items (there's and extra 4kg!!...........each)

We once paid in advance for extra baggage but that was with AtlasJet so it may be worth calling CTA and asking if you can pay upfront because it should be cheaper. Also when checking in at Stansted once we were told that they automatically allow you up to 30kg each before they charge you and they will often only charge you for part of the extra rather than all of it. I'm pretty sure they will not make you leave anything behind.
