I wouldn't say it was warm enough at the beginning of March to sunbathe but by the end, some years it is possible.

It can be cold, windy & wet would not suggest your son comes in March. The last couple of years have been exceptionally dry but hopefully we will have a more normal wet winter this year.

Early March is too early for a guarantee of good weather. April or May are better.
