Have had a post paid mobile for the past four years. Just arrive to settle permanently and went into Turkcell to ask about using my BlackBerry here and how to make the changes. I tried putting my Turkcell sim card into the Blackberry but the phone doesn't recognise it. The lady in Turkcell told me that there is no Blackberry service and no internet service to mobile phones at all in TRNC? Weird cos the home page on the Turkcell website is advertising "internet in your mobile" with google, facebook, ebay, etc.!!! Can anybody help?????

I have used UK(O2) Blackberry in TRNC no problem, I think as long as unlocked should be able to use it with any other sim card.

Hi, I obtained an unlock code for my Blackberry Curve on the internet and it works fine with Turkcell SIM for calls and text but cannot use it for emails or internet as it's not supported. You can carry on using it for emails and internet with a UK SIM but it's very expensive.

Blackberry internet service(BIS) is not available with KKTcell on the island. As a result BB phones can not get online ,but can use as a phone and tex messaging. Latest update is Telsim is working on BB phones to get them online. On the other hand I found a web site explaining how to get BB online with out BIS service but I didnt try it. http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Connect-to-Internet-with-Your-BlackBerry-without-Paying-For-Data-Plan. The only way to get your BB online is with wireless internet if you phone has wireless.

Lastly If you use Turkcell(Turkey netwtork) You can use BIS service with a charge of 40TL. Normally with that 40TL you can use internet unlimited in Turkey but becasue TRcell is under roaming here it cost 40TL plus roaming charge which is quite expensive. Thanks..

Very odd? When I am in the TRNC it operates when it shows KKTC as the server, but when it changes to another server which name escapes me I get nothing?? It has worked for me though on occasions.

How do you get online with telsim. If you can I will change turkcell to telsim. Can you 100% use internet services and BB messenger?

My O2 BlackBerry has worked on Turkcell and Telsim for the last 2-3 years without any problems. Excellent coverage.

Trinsurance, its just picked up Telsim automatically. You can do it manually by going to Manage Connections - and then Mobile Connections.
