MOT Test - Hints and Tips

Went down for my Navara's MOT renewal experience today. Arrived to meet an expat in the car park shaking his head. The man says I have to come back, no valid emissions test certificate (it was done in March 09), engine dirty, car dirty!



Well says I, that's North Cyprus for you, no brakes but as you fly over a precipice they were heard to say "still the car looks lovely, doesn't it Mable!" Anyway walking up to the inspector and handing him my documentation. Inspector walks purposefully around the truck, windows - clean, car - clean, engine - clean, mudflaps - fitted, tyres - black, oh and have tread, emissions test certificate - check, ah ha got-ya......... what?



That tow-bar will have to come off; but its a pickup truck, came fitted as standard, passed the last time around? Take it off or no pass, go away come back fixed then pass, OK?



Bvgger! Off to the local garage, please remove my tow bar, why, police want it removed, MOT test, oh! You come back after, we put back, OK

Still nothing clear about these emission tests is it still one year or is it every 2/3 years keep hearing different reports.

Tem garage told me yesterday that the rules have changed and it's every 3ish years to coincide with MOT, our car is petrol engine. MOT place confirmed.

I went yesterday= emmision test on Monday although had one last December. Went and paid my 100tl and off to police garage. Man walked round, asked me to open bonnet, did, he looked for engine number, compared it with book and that was it!! Kicked a tyre after signing saying 'bit soft' - and that was that. I went all fixed up with a book while it was looked at. 100tl for 2 minutes!!!!!!!!! Probably next time they'll put me through the hoop. Lady who followed me sent off for emmission test - it must be done during the week of the MOT I gather.

correct just get your local garage to do mot for you doestnt cost alot and no problems passing
