There has been alot of talk about not using Solicitors that are reccomended by Estate agents.

So to that end it would be good if we all knew who was associated with who.

Can anyone confirm which solicitors are hooked up with which Estate Agents??

I would say Estate Agents or builders or developers but is it wise to declare them publicly? Surely it is so obvious. When you are buying a property, simply do not go to one recommended strongly by the vendor or his agents, specially if they give you no other choice.

I dont think it really matters, we had independent advice, a solicitor who is not associated with the builder and a builder who came highly recommended but we still find ourselves with a property half built and no completion date and no sign of any work being done

Plus no communication from both of them ?

I understand that Ismet, but I suppose I am really asking, which if any are not recommended by any Estate Agents or developer, therefore are truely independent.

mcsteviot,

According to The HPBG, there are about 8 who they think are best avoided.

I don"t think they would specifically name anyone for obvious reasons, but they may well suggest ones that they feel able to reccommend.
