I have had my dongle for almost 3 months, and never had any problems...until now...i keep losing the connection, for long periods of time...is this a dongle problem or a service problem? Is anyone else having this problem?? Just when i'm typing up a long narrative to send in an email for example...i lose the conection, and whatever i was writing...this is becoming a frustrating 'non' joke!!

Buy connecvtion I suppose that the PC does not reconise its plugged in

Try it in another port see if thatb works and alway go to saftly remove hardware on the menu bar at the bottom of your screen. If any of these dont work you need to save all the stuff onto a file on your desk top and but a new 'dpngle' but make sure its a USB2 especially if your running vista

hope this helps

DD try typing it in word or notepad on your computer and then copy and paste it into the email - that way you can do it easily and are less likely to loose it.

It used to be the old way when everyone had dial up. You could check the spelling in word and lose all the format in notepad. Very useful.

It is most likely the "service". Everything you've described, I've suffered. However, don't go and buy a new dongle. Chap at Laconic said if all else failed with mine I should take it to Turkcell and let them test it. If it was faulty they would replace it, he said.

It's working better now, but the service is still poor.

Can you go to an area which has a stronger signal ie. Girne and try it again.

It could be the area you live in. Is your mobile a 3g and on the same network. have a look at the signal strength on your mobile. If its only got 1 or 2 bars showing then your dongle connection will be patchy.

I have the same problem as you DD and I am also in Karsiyaka. It is driving me NUTS. I think it is definitely the reception as I have no problems if I take my laptop outside. Its very very annoying as I have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting.

1: Try the long USB-cable that came with your modem to connect the modem to the computer

2: Then try moving your modem to different places (see 4) around your computer and check the connection

3: Preferably as close to a window and as far away from the metal in your room's walls (Faraday Cage)

as possible

4: Try to find out the position of TürkCells broadcasting mast

5: No guarantee, but sometimes this works.

Good luck!

And don't forget: mobile modems were invented with mobile people in mind...

DD, does the same error message show every time you try to connect?

(And not "something like that...", what exactly? )

And it never works?

Did it slowly become worse?

Are you sure the software was installed without problems?

Have you tried to de-install and re-install the software on the CD?

hi daisy dukes

i also had this problem and could not get connection it gave me the same message, i had enough and decided to take it back to the shop who then told me i had used my limit up and this message appears when its time to replace it or buy a top up..not sure if this is the same thing as your experiencing though.
