As far as I know the posters that are affected are being e-mailed and being asked to supply photos to replace those that are deemed unsuitable so as you can imagine this will take sometime especially as some members don't look at the e-mail addresses that they supplied when they joined the board.

Whilst I accept whatever rule 14 says, was this a rule that was implemented AFTER some of us posted avatars, dogs etc? I really can't see the point in the insistence of a proper photo, what difference does an avatar (as long as its not offensive, which Hippos wasn't) or a photo make. Next you'll be making a rule that no photo no membership and then see Cyp44 go downhill fast.



Maybe I should just take a photo of someone in the street, I guess that would be accepted, even though it wouldn't be of me. You can say all you like about building a 'community', but some people don't want their photos on!



Rules rules rules, bloody stupid some of 'em and therefore should be changed....... i'll wait for the ban.

You will get countless e-mails complaining about different postings that some perceive as against the rules when the majority of others don't, we have to look at every posting by a member that has been complained about, we then e-mail those that are thought to be a problem, most do not answer their e-mails because their e-mails were set up just get them membership so then we have to make a decision and banning members is a last resort but if it is deemed necessary to keep the peace then it will be done.

Only my two penny worth but out of the 45 posts on this thread alone there are only 4 photographs of people, if they idea is to have personal photographs of the poster, not there pet, favourite landscape, baby photograph or a wedding they went to in the bahamas for example then there are many photos that are not complying with the rule.

The irony in my case is that I did have my photograph on and it was changed to another photo by someone without my knowledge, hence I have not put another photo.

I understand that placing a photo of yourself makes it a more communal forum where people may recognise you but if there is also an option to be anonymous, i.e, no photograph then I can't fully understand why and Avatar is not also accepted.

And here is the kicker, because of using the correct photgraps as requestedd, Mark has had questions raised about his marrying a beautiful younger woman, and Coachie has been accused of alsoholism, just two examples of abuse because of the photos.

I agree with you Coachie. As is being discussed at the moment on another thread and has probably been discussed a multitude of times there are and have been multiple identities on the Forum and as such if you had to post a photo then the reborn and multiple posters would just use a false photo so whether a photo (real), photo (false), an avatar or no picture there would be no difference.

The only thing that I can think of behend the decision against Avatars is copyright infringement that the Forum may be held responsible for which would not be fair if it is the poster's decision to use someone elses Avatar.

As Mark has said though there should be some consistency, I believe Hippo must have gone a little further than just what we know but in fairness why should his be removed when there are so many others not showing photos of themself.

Mind you there are 2 sides to every story and on this Forum people appear to choose the side that causes the most friction, most of the time.

I can't say that my photo has caused me any problems, the only problem I have ever had on here was when I posted my email address, I got some pretty strange emails.

I really can't understand why after 2 years Hippo's avatar has become a problem to Izzet.

Just to clarify:



I kindly asked Hippo to send me a photo to replace.

He said he will not continue to post if we change his photo.



I see this very wrong.

A member is using this free board and threatening us not to use the board if we change his photo.



We changed the photo.

Note that as per our forum rules, we decide whatever suits. Period.



He then sent several rude emails to us. So, that's the reason of 1 month ban.



He is free to post after one month if he likes.



End of discussion.

Silly me for one minute I thought that you were not conversant with the board rules.

Don't let it worry you, if you have no malicious intent then you are ok. All I was saying was that if you have any problems with the interpretation of the board rules then please feel free to contact any member of the 'board admin' staff and we can help you.
