Sorry if I sound like a complete duffer but where is Scruples?? I love reflexology but I'm not sure if I should let my husband go as the last time he had reflexology he fell asleep and then did the most collosal snore that the poor girl screamed and jumped about 6 inches off the floor - I'm not sure she's recovered yet

Scruples is just in front of the "Garden of Babel" garden centre in Lapta. It's sign posted from the main road, just before the Hillside restaurant coming from Girne.

Falling asleep during a treatment is really good, and snoring is quite acceptable!!

QUACKWATCH, Your Guide to Quackery, Health Fraud, and Intelligent Decisions: (...) Reflexology is based on an absurd theory and has not been demonstrated to influence the course of any illness. Done gently, reflexology is a form of foot massage that may help people relax temporarily. Whether that is worth $35 to $100 per session or is more effective than ordinary (noncommercial) foot massage is a matter of individual choice. Claims that reflexology is effective for diagnosing or treating disease should be ignored. Such claims could lead to delay of necessary medical care or to unnecessary medical testing of people who are worried about reflexology findings. - Stephen Barrett, M.D. (...)

DutchCrusader, thank you for your addition! It certainly is a matter of individual choice, and while not willing to discuss the subject at length on here, I am more than happy to answer any queries on a Tuesday afternoon at Scruples.

RE msg 8, Castlemilk: (...) It certainly is a matter of individual choice (...)

=> Indeed. Reflexology is like religion. In both cases I wish I had invented it.

DutchCrusader: "....wish I had invented it" (reflexology). That would certainly have put the cat amongst the pigeons if you had, coming from the Netherlands as I believe you do, as the Practice originated further East in China and was also embraced by the ancient Egyptians. R'ology is one of the most effective complementary therapies available today and when used correctly by professionally trained practitioners it is never used to diagnose - or specifically treat - an existing medical condition. It is an adjunct to, and complements orthodox medicine. One of the best stress-busters ever invented !

RE msg 12, swannee7: (...) the Practice originated further East in China and was also embraced by the ancient Egyptians. (...)

=> Ancient China (in short): where they killed daughters. Egypt (in short): where they believed that the sun was a god. You seem to have missed that this 2009, where an average GP knows more about your body than all ancient Egyptians together. But, if you prefer to believe quacks: fine. My msg 5 was only meant to show the other side of the coin. It doesn't help, I know, but that is no reason to be silent.

(Docendo discimus. Satiricus Petronius in Satyricon: Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur). Reflexionists are followers of "Der Hauptmann von Köpenick".

If "reflexology" doesn't help: I'm told that "healing stones" do the job. Or piss-viewing. Iriscopy. Toe-sucking. etc.
