hi spectacular

welcome to the forum

to cut a long story short yes you do need a residence permit to bring a container of your personal belongings to pass thru customs

All you need to get a container of household goods through customs is a signed contract of sale or a signed rental agreement.

hi

sharqwen im not sure if you have done this personally and i have heard some people bring in some little goods without a residence visa, but i have never heard anyone bring in a 20ft or 40ft container thru customs with just a signed sales contract or rental agreement, you do need this on top of many other things like

your passport with at least the same expiry of your resi visa

three copies of your packing list in turkish and in english

copy of your bill of landing given by your removel company

copy of delivery note given by removel company

certificate from imigration obtained from the offices in lefkosa stating the log of arrival and departure dates which you have to apply in person

and last but not least 100% a residence visa which you obtain from your local muhtar (council)

at not forgetting having some money by your side to pay for any taxes incured like bandrol tax on your tv and electrical goods and dont forget you are only allowed to bring one of only electrical stuff

hope this helps

Hi

We brought our goods over in 2005 and we needed a copy of our Contract of Sale, a letter from the Muhtar confirming we had property in the village, our passports and some stamps. Our Agent dealt with the bills of lading and everything else for us.

We bought a 20ft container without a residence permit. A letter from the muhtar but not residence visa. But you will need everything else listed by UKTURK.

We used Olaytrans to bring our stuff in and they were more than helpful with getting everything done.

Word of advice. Buy lots of 1 & 5 ytl stamps and when getting letter from muhtar pay the extra and get a couple. You will ned one for conatiner and then another to get your residency.

You here conflicting stories about what you can bring in. We bought 5 tv's and only paid for 1. It really depends on the customs guys when they turn up.

I must concur, no residencey permit needs to be applied for or be granted to import personal goods. Just need a Contract of Sale and Muthars letter. The shipping agent should do the rest.

ıts been a very mixed in info all official websites and forum say you need a residence permit including this website http://www.cyprus44.com/property/shipping.asp and konw many people who have done this procedure recently and have had a resi permit but i have also learned from some of the posters on here that they have done it just going to the muhtar

helot when i say 1 of this means 1 of everythinh like 1 pc, 1 tv, 1 microwave etc etc, one thing i would reconmend thou is not to bring to much big electrical products just for the main reason that if it breaks down on you have problems with it you wont be covered by its guarantee and some products you buy in the u.k might not have the same model in cyprus so if you need a part you could get stuck, hope this helps, and good luck

Hi Ukturk,

this helps a lot!

We will sent them from Germany to Cyprus and they are used.

But there will be more than one....

Maybe better taking one of them in the hand luggage?
