For the last two weeks i have been in the uk on hoilday /business for those of you that didn't already know.

my sony vaio has been in it's case in my cyprus livingroom the whole time we were away.

in the last weeks i have made some very interesting posts considering i have not been on line!

i met up with a forum member/friend whilst in the uk and was handed some printed out sheets from cyprus44.

the sheets show dc ranting at me again? anyone tell me what this was all about? dc? i though we parted on good terms? the way the rant went on, surely you must have know it wasn't me who you were talking to? you would have known how i would have responded. it was a little funny, what was the bet for? (i'm skint ,just been shopping)

who gave out my info? please explain?

who is posting as me?

i'm flattered and amused , can anyone explain?? please!

posted by the real fire starter! who is now back from the uk and confused !!

RE msg 1, fire_starter: I was amazed also, but thought that you preferred to reopen the exchange of hostile posts. I REALLY have no idea what is going on here - like you ask in your post. I SWEAR I HAVE NOT A CLUE.

P.S. I prefer the cease-fire or even better: peace.

P.S. Could someone else have used your computer and logged-in as "fire_starter"?

PP.S. Some Admin(s) must have been confused also, because "you" (?) got warnings in several threads.

I must admit I knew you were in the UK, and was wondering why you weren't posting on the other forum, obviously the person who had your identity, didn't have your password for their.

If someone has 'cloned' your name on here surely there must be a way to find out. I'm actually appalled by this if this is the case. Make no mistake, steps are being taken to find out what has gone on.

I've just bulk downloaded all "fire_starter" (?) messages (from 090913 until today) - before they may mysteriously disappear. Most are rather unkind or maliciously aimed at me. Hmmm, a thought about this mystery springs to mind.

Nobody has been posting as fire starter over their, so they have your password for here, you had better change it, even if you don't post on here any more, someone could still post as you.

fire_starter: click on your name and check the long list of "Recent messages". There and then you can see what you (as the real fire_starter) posted or did not.

I find this event so low - we must solve this.

Firestarter. Message 6 at 14.58 stated that you were not posting anymore. Yet at 15.06 you posted on another thread about Milk.

Please don't think that i'm 'having a pop' at you but how do we know who the real firestarter is.

Did the 'other' firestarter post on the Milk thread?

To start solving this problem: Izzet can check the email addresses of the real and the fake fire_starter. Just a wild guess : the fake fire_starter has a @gmail* email address and the real fire_starter has her own email address (from her own domain name).

Right or wrong..?

* P.S. gmail doesn't allow two same email addresses.

RE msg 28, fire_starter (fake or real): (...) see you all around guys. (...)

=> From now on we cannot trust ONE message on this board - fake ID's and stolen ID's.

Suggestion: abolish the Admins. Useless. Who are they moderating? Bill? AJ? And others.

This is all the result of maintaining a board with non-tested software. Hundreds of thousands Bulletin Boards where this canNOT happen.

Sorry to say it, my dear Izzet, but LEARNING from errors here and solutions elsewhere is nothing to feel ashamed about.

If msg 1 is true - the C44 board has a serious leak.

RE msg 26, Izzet: (...) Nothing was breached. Members are responsible from keeping their passwords safe. Izzet (...)

=> Not good enough, Izzet. We, your customers, deserve your explanation about msg 1. Did it happen like stated: then you have a problem and you should tell us, your customers, what happened and what you are going to do to avoid this to happen again. If it's not true (msg 1): tell us, your customers, also.

We, your customers, have the right to know. Without us, your customers, you don't have a board and no income from the board.

RE msg 31, Bill: I'm not pointing at any Admin. I only want to make it clear that you and your colleagues are moderating posts that were not posted by the people who pretend to be the poster. So: who are you moderating? fire_starter (or a fake)? Me or someone else?

fire_starter stated a very serious accusation in msg 1. Someone is trying to sabotage this board. It's not the Admins. It's not fire_starter. It's not me, reacting in good faith but in error on fire_starter's messages.

So you and I know who didn't do it.

Remains the question: who did it? The answer is with the only man who can read the log book of this board: Izzet.

The really stupid thing about all of this is I noticed fire starter's style of writing had changed, and even wondered why she wasn't posting on the 'other' forum, now after going through her posts again it is blatantly obvious it was not fire starter.

A bit worrying and the person who was posting must have known she was away, how else could they get away with it? maybe they were dipping their toe in the pond (so to speak) and it actually could have been a lot worse, if for instance If it had been someone like Makoasy.

Shudder to think!

I think the point at the end is whether someone actually has impersonated FS or the other option and if I understand what DC is saying only Izzet can tell but it would be good to know either way.

For me the biggest worry is that if somehow FS's password was found out, as Izzet says it wasn't done on here but if it was then if I had used that same password on other sites would they then be compromised.

I think I will change my password to one that is completely new which will give me a little more confidence, might be a little late but it's the best I can think of unless it can be confirmed what actually happened.

There is no real or fake accounts.

There is one account for this user. (I checked)

The member claims she did not post some of the messages.

The member might be lying. The member might have her password exposed to malicious people.

No matter what, it is her account and her responsibility to keep her password safe.

There is no exploit in our codes.

If anybody feels worried, you can simply change your password any time!

It's speculation - due to the lack of an adequate reaction from the board management - but I think the fake "fire starter" guessed or overheard/saw the password of the real "fire starter" and logged in to the board via a proxy server. (By the way the latter is and was a well known and often repeated action by certain banned members on C44).

The question remains: how was/is it possible that two different persons use(d) the same nickname "fire starter" on this board? Izzet's database should have alarmed him when someone tried to do this.

This can happen to anyone here - change your password! Make it difficult (at least 8 tokens, with capitals etc). Example: CxBnN5m7. "The easier a password is for the owner to remember generally means it will be easy for a hacker to guess." (Wikipedia).
