It`s one of the safest places you can live and I`m sure everyone would agree with me on this so have no worries.

I think you're more likely to get robbed by supermarkets, the electric company and builders in NC, Driving can be a lottery too - accidents with fatalities on roads are reported regularly in papers. Apart from that you still need to be alert like most places. Most of it is just common sense (i.e lock up when you live the house etc) but I wouldn't go as far as to say that there is no crime in NC.... Crime is going on but probably not reported and recorded as much as most other countries do. And don't forget your sun-block because thats a danger in it's self!

I'd say you'd be very safe providing you don't run into Gary Mongers missus. )

it is very safe - house break ins are so rare that when one occurs it usually gets reported in the news paper....

I always feel safe in TRNC no problems on that scale . Just be careful of developers /estate agents /advocates /maintenance companies who are waiting to rip you off , (just some mind, not all , )keep your sensible head on and you will be fine and just love it there . We have several friends who are single out there and they have no probs what so ever . Hope this helps .

Alex I think yes it is probable for squatters to take up residence and i think it has happened but only in a few cases , if you buy on a gated complex include a good maintenance company/keyholder to check your property weekly maybe that reduces the risk of unwanted guests , coupled up with good security, that would be what i would suggest .

no I am a real person looking to buy abroad, 43 yrs old badly arthritic knee and will more or less retire in around 7-8 yrs (if my knee holds up that long !!)

what makes you think I am not for real??

It is quite a worry buying away from what you know cos as much as you visit before hand they are 2-3 week holidays and at this time I could not afford any more time from work (self employed = no work no pay )

I hope that answers your question

Best advice, visit when you can but rent or stay in a hotel. Buying in NC is fraught with danger. You have enough to worry about with being self employed and your arthritus without adding to it.

My only problem is

I'm still married to her
