As there are quite a few new members its time to bring up the story of Blood Donations again. We haven't had a new blood donor sign up this month.!

For those of you that don't know in an emergency blood has to be found for your nearest and dearest as often there is not enough in the blood bank in Lefkosa.

DC has kindly set up in his own time and his cost a database of blood donors.

We need more donors so send your details to northcyprusblooddonors@gmail.com Alternately you can fill in the form at LINCguide on-line.

Details needed are:

Name

Blood Group

Telephone number

Area you live

Do you have transport.

PLEASE help to save a life one day it could be YOUR life!

Thanks in advance .

Chris

Hi Chris

I would happily sign up as a blood donor but I'm on medication for HBP and haven't been able to give blood in UK for years because of this. I assume it is the same here?

Hi Redboxer,

Medications for Hypertension should not stop you giving blood, as long as your Blood Pressure is stable and especially at the time of donation. No problem. It is actually the same in the UK now.

So sign up and be the first of today.

Thanks

Chris

A free meal for two and 15 free drinks will bring more British donors, dear nurse.

Dear nurse. Check your handbook "how to be a good nurse" and find there that people with a heart condition and a pacemaker are not advised (allowed, my heart surgeon said rather serious) to give blood. Bye, nurse.

I wrote that book but unforunately I had no access to your medical records. If I had known you were part robot I would not have made that comment. Please accept my apology.

Chris

Will apologise in person tomorrow I take it same time same place!!!

Is there some kind of clandestine, secretive club meeting in a Cosa Nostra owned Restaurant, the name of which is banned on this forum? This is on a need to know basis only!

Yorguzlu,

Have just resent the e-mail. It might be going into your spam, as quite a few of mines have been doing that.

ANY text in this thread is fine - as long as it brings the thread to the top and as long as it attracts attention (and new donors...) to nurse's important initiative. Bye and see you nurse!

Why are you re-inventing the wheel here? The BRS already has such a list of donors and I have been contacted in the past to go directly to the State Hospital to give an emergency blood donation.

cornish they are not trying to re invent the wheel. They are providing a valuable service for turkish cypriots and expats who need medical help. I know as I store the equipment and beleive you me they are in on a daily basis for crutches, wheelchairs comodes etc. All free. In my mind they are angels. We here will do all we can to help and many people in UK are having equipment shipped over courtesty of Jo Valetine. They tell me that most of thier patients are turkish cypriots. Does that not tell you something.
