Hi can I ask as I have to start mine again on Monday

Do you need 1/2/3 Signatures on the Muhtar form

Everyone seems to state something different, that's why I need someone who has just been to the Muhtar to get it signed

every year it changes, so any info would be of help

Thanks. Sheila

We had 3 signatures on ours - the form has sections for the Muhtar's signature plus 2 others. Last year the police were turning people away with less than 3. A new thing this year is that they need a photocopy of the visa slip that was used the last time you went South.

This is what I mean, one person gets away with 1/2 Signatures then another is turned away without 3

Not heard the one about the visa slip, god they change the rules more time than we change our knickers ) )

Did mine in July. Only had 2 signatures on the muhtar letter - no problem. Did not have any visa slips from the South and wasn't asked for them.

I renewed mine a couple of weeks ago at the same time as my daughter made her first application; we both has only one signature plus a stamp . Our forms were signed by different Muhtars as we live in different areas.

Niether of us were informed that two signatures were required and the Police Emigration Officers and the Lefkosha Office accepted and approved our applications.

Nevertheless in this country it pays to be safe rather than sorry .

We did ours 3 weeks ago and they insisted on 2 occasions that a copy of the visa slip was required - better to take it if you can than to be turned away.

Eileen

I haven't been over to the South since Sept/Oct last year, and I cant find my last visa slip surely they can look on their computers to see when someone went over last, anymore restrictions and I will jack it in and tell them what they can do with their Rules and Regulations and get the hell out of here

I came over here to retire and relax, some hope

we just did ours last week and only needed 2 signatures from Catalkoy Muhtar. We did photocopy visa slip too which was needed. Otherwise just the normal bank statements, copy of passport and stamps.

So what will happen if you havent got a visa slip, they cant expect you to keep them and that you will need it one day, even after nearly a year.

Did mine last week - Ozankoy - and only had Muhtars signature over stamp. Was asked in police station what was the last date I entered the TRNC, this from the paper slip, but did not need to provide any photo copy of it at Lefcosia. Was told by police that I may have a problem at Lefcosia because I did not have a local bank account but that came to nothing either. Only provided bank statement showing pensions payment into UK account and that was ok as well. Beats me what the rules are but I have used the same "shrug" system for the last three years and it seems to work.

Smithy, You are right they have all the info on their computers, beats me why they need a photocopy of your last slip. As it happened we had a slip from the previous week, I assume if you can't produce it they can get a print out of the ins and outs. Good luck

I think they are more interested in the visa slips if you haven't left the TRNC during the last year to visit UK or Turkey say (which we hadn't). We were asked for the visa slips which we'd left in the car but they just checked the computer for our last "out" to the South.

I have recently renewed mine - no problem at the police station. They didn't ask about visa slips and I didn't supply them. The immigration department at Lefkosa though was a joke. Arrived at 8 am and there were crowds of people there some of whom had been there since before 6. Not for me I'm afraid. Went away and got an agent to get my stamp - 60TL well spent and done the same day. The girls in the driving school near Girne police station did mine. Before anybody says anything about them, I know there have been problems in the past but now all above board, quick and trouble free.

Nostradamus,

So are you saying that you didn't need to make a personal appearance at Lefkosa immigration, i.e. your "agent" did that for you? This used to be the case a few years ago but I thought folks now had to go in person again.

Nostradamus

Are you saying that the girls in the driving school will go to the Immigration office if you pay them to do the last part and they only charge 60ytl, please give me more info, are they allowed to go and do this for you.

Any info would be of help

Unbelieveable.

Today I had to supply a urine sample whilst picking up my residency.

I told them they were taking the piss.

They replied, "no, we are asking for the piss. We TAKE it AFTER you have given it."

He then added "When will you English learn to speak properly"

Hi

Did ours this morning, we were there at 7.15 and were given ticket no 33. The Desk was open from 7.45 to 12.00. There were quite a few others there who came late, with no ticket, they went to see someone in the building and then was escorted to the desk and their application processed. One english man protested by not use. 2 people were refused as they did not have the original copy of the muhtarligi letter. We were seen at 11.48 and they laughed and said ""you lucky"", so I suggest to join the others who were there at 6.00 if you want to get seen to on the same day

Yes, the girls in the driving school office will go just to Lefkosa for you and get your passport stamped and recover your 'pink book' for 60TL. Obviously you also have to pay the usual fee + stamps as well. It is the first driving school on the left when you turn into the road where Girne Police Station is - think it's called Ergunes.

Many thanks Nostradamus

As I understand it I do it the bits and pieces at the Girne Police Station and when its time to collect from Immigration office, I can get the girls to do it, for 60ytl thats a great price, also do I give them the money plus stamps, what a star you are for letting us know this info

I could kiss you

Hi

Went to Girne Police Station as told at 7.15am the door to Immigration now opens at 8.15 (back to winter times) the guy gave out 12 tickets I was number 11 got seen at 9.55am

The trouble was all the locals were pushing in and trying to get a ticket but as there were a lot of Brits we made a line and kept pushing them back, they dont know what a queue is and think that we can be shoved around and jump the queue, well today they got ME and no one got in front of me.

All sorted well the first part is, the next part at Lefkosa I will ask the girls in the Driving School to do that, it will be worth 60ytl as it makes me so angry when people think they can just push past.

According to Cyprus Today, from today Government offices are 8am - 1pm and 2pm until 5pm. Would think that Immigration at Lefkosa should come under that.
