hi all

i've done it - i've just booked my first viewing trip and will be coming out 4th june. question is, can i get around effectively without hiring a car, ie. relying solely on public transport? i'm not tied in with an agent.

Yes, generally there are mini buses particularly out towards Lapta area through to Karisyaka. Similarly there are frequent mini buses out towards esentepe way but only to the Acapulyco resort. They are very frequent during the day but end in the evening depending on the season.

I wouldn't say frequent to Catalkoy/Acapulco, they're only hourly until 7pm

Esentepe only gets 4 buses a day and the timetable is totally not friendly.

Lapta and Karsiyaka or Lefkosia, no problems.

Really a car is essential.

Chrissie if you are going over to look at property, you really must hire a car. It is inexpensive at this time of year and without one you will be really restricted. There are property opportunities all over and you really must explore the different areas of the island to decide where you would prefer to be. Good luck - avoid the pitfalls and I hope you find your dream property - as we did 18 months ago and have absolutely no regrets.
