If this place ever want to get in the EU we need to be politically correct (PC) not handyman but Handyperson!!!

Even in the UK cannot say handyman!

Gates,I know an electrician who calls himself a builder because he owns a trowel and a spirit level.

Gates, this is highly professional legal company. They have been our FM co for the last 3 years, now in their 4th term. They are the only ISO accredited FM co here. This is simply a request for a handyman which I am sure would be a very nice job for someone, in a climate where there are not many jobs to be had.

I think Gates point is that skills such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical work are just that - skills. Skills take a long time to learn and a general handyman who needs training may not have nor ever get those skills. I would also hope that a handymans employer would recognise his limitations, for everyones sake, and call in skilled tradesmen to supplement the handyman when/if necessary, particularly when it comes to potentially dangerous electrical work.
