size of the pool, purpose ( eg extension of season) or temp as msg 2 suggested needed, other requirements as domestic hot water, central heating wanted? a must: a pool cover.

for all: approx 20-25 % of the surface area is the necesary panel area (good panels, not local ones) pls contact info@kibsolar.com

We have done a few of these and I can tell you that we work on panel size of 60% of pool surface area. This will give you spring/autumn swimming.

Cost for an 8x4m pool about £5000 installed. You will need a pool cover to retain heat or you are wasting your money. Covers cost about £400.

Any one else with just solar cover? I have beeen thinking that this has to be the first step as most heat energy lost through evapouration.

Hate the thought of it always being at the end of the pool though.

What are they like in winds

Ours is an overflow pool but we have it on "main drain" and have the level down about 6 inches from the top.

The cover stays on through almost all winds, our neighbour had to put it back on once during the summer, but they do "stick" to the water very well.

Ours is overflow as well so we would have to have it on main drain. Thanks for info as it would be well worth considering.

Are the solar covers safe with small children?, or is there a cover that anyone knows about that will stop kids falling in the pool and not sink etc??

Mark - I join in with the same question - how much? It sounds ideal, would prolong the swimming season at least a couple of weeks either side of the summer!! Ours is overflow too - but if you say it works that way, Ill believe you! If you dont want to put price or where from on board, e mail me Ann

Hi Blinky,

To stop kids drowning in a pool you need a winter cover - not the same thing at all. Solar covers are death traps if you fall in as they can wrap around you and prevent you from surfacing.

I got our 8x4 solar cover in the UK and bought it over as oversized baggage with CTA (no charge) , weighed 15kg.

Ours was about £100 2 years ago, they're about £120 now

Speak to Suzanne on 0533 831 2896 she will be able to give you all details and pricing on solar covers, safety covers and winter covers. All pools are measured and advise is given which cover is best for you pool without any obligation.
