No one else interested? All those posters complaining about how 'hard done by' they feel about the legal system can't be bothered to show interest of intent to attend?!

Ismet, did you set up this meeting, or instrumental in organising it? Poor show so far.

I would be grateful if those attending, could feed-back to those of us, that cannot be in the TRNC for the conference.

I very much suspect that it will be emphasised that buyers should not proceed with a purchase until their PTP has been approved.

Will this mean that after the meeting advocates will:

a) Inform all new buyers that they should refrain from entering a contract until the approval is received?

b) Say it is just a formality and you should do it now because it will take years to come through?

c) Tell you that only those with a criminal record need worry?

Place your bets now!

Email me off board with concise questions which you'd like me to ask on your behalf. I'll be able to print off your script. I will be there!

Hector x 2 will be there. As a matter of interest, if you (Elko) hadn't mentioned it, how was anyone going to know of this meeting?

Such any easy question to answer, nobody was to know nor attend, then saving face being confronted by questions that they cannot answer nor justify. Hence the meeting being conducted in Turkish, with a translator which will loose all nuisances in their cover up in the replies! Is it not odd that the shelves of Law Firms are adorned in English Law books yet unable to hold a meeting in the English Language?! It will turn out to be yet another cover up of bullshit excuses to exonerate themselves from the wrong doings of their profession. I hope there will be a few 'heavy weights' (legally erudite) who'll back me up! Ismet hasn't replied to me, on another post, regarding his status in this meeting.

msg. 14

Richard,

I refrained from a reply so far because as I mentioned in my initial post I wanted this thread to stay on course with no discussion, simply who is coming and who is not. Anyway, I have no part in this organization and I passed on what I saw in the newspaper. However I did phone Sozmener yesterday and he confirmed that the conference is on as planned. I will not get involved in any discussion on this subject under this particular thread but if you ask me anything on the sister thread by all means I will do my best to reply.

Re Msg 17: Thank you, Kiddo - I can confirm that I will definitely attend.

Computer problem solved - 'pussy-play' dislodged my USB cable!

And, before the flood of jibes, the answer is 'no', not the 'nightclub' variety!

I will be going, but more from principle and to give Sozmener as hard a time as i am allowed.

I am astonished (not really) at the biased and complacent wording of their announcement in the Cyprus Today newspaper.

Its a PR exercise and no chance of making it anything else, but ill be there putting the boot in, in the nicest possible way naturally.

Why be nice, you won`t get anywhere in TRNC by being nice to the legal people.

Nothing works with legal people here. Nice, nasty, paying up , deferring payment. Its all the same to them, you are consistently rewarded with the same substandard service. I am a local, and it makes no difference .

What mask Richard? I look exactly as in my picture, so it should be easy to pin point. I hope you come up and say hello. It will be nice to put faces to names. I met a few at Guido's but I bet I will not recognize even those with the exception of a few perhaps.

Do not often use forums but just seen advert in CT. "everyone and specifically all lawyers are cordially invited to attend conference". Does "all lawyers" mean they WILL attend.

We will be there and anyone who lives here must attend, might not salvage your probs but may help others in future. No excuses, unless dead, this affects many who contribute regularly about their problems on these forums and offers an opportunity to fight back at the system.

I understand that the lawyers first language is Turkish.

I further understand that we are guests in this country and we should make an effort to learn the language.

NOW, which speakers will be attending that cannot speak fluent English?

In my opinion, I cannot believe there will be any lawyers present, that cannot speak, read, write in perfect English. (I am only expecting lawyers who deal with Brits, etc, regarding property purchase).

Otherwise, we would not have dealt with them!

So the list so far if I have not missed any.

Elko2 (Ismet Üstüner)

Brinsley (Richard)

Crofter x 2

louis elstob x2

Hector x 2

Tenakoutou

Melbrandy

KibrisSibel

Keithcaley

David & Kim Pavey

DD

Mermaid

Cyprusishome

So that makes a total of 18. Assuming that only 50% bothered/noticed this, that makes 36. Say another 10 English speaking Advocates from Girne (in the hope of catching new customers) and another 10 at random and that should make a grand total of 56. So add to that the speakers and lets say the grand total will be 60. I don't know how big the conference room is but I suppose we will have plenty of room to stretch our legs.

Shall we have the time to play the game "Spot who is who" ? I am not playing because I have a terrible memory for names and faces-I am a total loss. I must say I am looking forward to meeting a few of you. See you there then.
