can anyone tell me what happens to your dog if you travel by ferry from Ancona to Brindisi and again from Turkey to Cyprus, are they allowed in the cabin with you? do they have to stay in the car? any help would be appreciated. Also how long does it normally take to get permission to import a dog to cyprus?

We have been working on our passport since August. Zak already had a microchip. He has had -The main injections all dogs require and also his booster injections - Rabies injections and after these you wait 3 weeks for a blood test which determins whether he needs another one or not - Zak has needed 3 to date and we are still awaiting the results of the last one. After that he has to have other checks and certificate. We are not planning on moving over until January. We are going to travel by road using EU countries all the way until we get to Turkey. I was told by the VET to ring DEFRA and they will give you the requirements for every country.

When we came on the ferry last year,we looked at the kennels on board the ferry, they are not overly large but i would say adequate for the crossing, there is also dedicated areas on board for exercise and toilet etc.But we came on the last ferry of the year and people where being allowed to have their dogs and cats in their cabins as the ferry was so quite, hope this info helps regards jardap
