hi can anyone help clarify what the rules are about importing furnature.

we have been told that we can not bring our own stuff if we are not residents. is this right or wrong. we are thinking of buying all new and importing it. but we are going to rent it out.

i understand that we have to pay if everything is new. does anyone know how much.

please help

Made to look as if it had had some use, removed from original packaging, could pass for your own use.

If they feel that its for resale(multiple items), tax starts at 40% of THEIR valuation.

We imported furniture for our apartment which we visit 3-4 times a year. You are allowed one tax free importation of personal goods (your passport gets stamped by customs). If you are married they will stamp both your passports. If your passports are in different names then you could have 2 lots. Electrical items such as TV's are still taxed though.
