You can now get Radio ADA on 96.3. My show goes out live tommorow night and if you want any Motown or Northern Soul request please post a reply. Somehow I've missed Arthur Askey's contribution to soul and I don't own any of his music. I'll pass your request on to DJ Mike who plays a wide variety of music on Sunday afternoons between 1.30 & 3pm. If anyone's got a copy, Mike will!

Keith Waterhouse once reported in his column that Ian's surname was most apt as a DJ at a Young Conservatives do.. as is yours!

Don't know if that's a compliment or not! Not aware of any Ian's in our family, but Pickup is quite a popular name in Yorkshire & Lancashire. My uncle spent his entire retired life reseaching our ancestry, and disappointingly (to me as a Yorkshireman) traced our roots over the border to Lancashire. Your not always what you appear to be!

Well, I've had a listen, but the sound quality is appalling.

On music the higher audio frequencies are massively over-emphasised, resulting in an over-bright sibilant sound.

The studio mic is just the opposite, with a very 'dull' tone (I'm referring to the sound quality, not the content of the announcements, although it is a bit like listening to Radio Humberside ).

With a bit of luck, they'll read this, and twiddle a few knobs...

p.s. That other 'new' radio station on 88 MHz, with non-stop music 24/7 also has sound quality problems - it sounds as though they are seriously over-modulating the bass frequencies, because the sound breaks up in time with the 'beat' on some tracks with a heavy bass beat. Back to Radio 2 then...

Hi Jock,

It's not all the time, just certain tracks with a heavy bass beat - it may be related to signal strength I suppose, although FM doesn't usually suffer as much as AM in that respect.

Do you know where the 88 MHz station is broadcast from? - I'm near 'Green Petrol', are you anywhere nearby?

Anyway, the music selection is good on both stations, just hope that they sort out the issues.

Keith our place is only down the road from you, by Dolmaci supermarket & we were picking up the station on 88 with no problem. They also had it on in Fast Food and it sounded fine in there.

Jock, your right Mike's on Bayrak radio on a Sunday morning with his jukebox show, but he's also on ADA radio in the afternoon. The morning show is recorded & the afternoon show is live.

Andy, I have ADA set up in the car and I have a strong signal on 96.3 from Lapta to Esentepe (Golf Course). Went to Nicosia today and the signal is weaker with a bit of static as I travelled south. I put approx 3 hours of soul, motown and Northern Soul on the deck last night, aand as there is no DJ's playing on the station until Sunday, they are being played on a loop, punctuated by adverts every hour. I'll post my play list for next Wednesday (14th) early next week, and if anyone has any requests, if I have I will play. Max...
