How would you feel about spending a £100 in advertising your house?....Not a bad price...but would you like to know how many people saw the ad?........how long do you think the 'auction' should have been advertised? Is 6 days enough to generate interest?

did you see the ad?

Donaghy and Beyler had an auction ...how many of you knew about it....and did you know it was a 'silent auction'.....? Did you bid.....?

Sounds like they had their fingers burnt forkin out for the Malpaz Auction a couple of months back, no doubt the tables will be well loaded on their side, only folk with their backs to the wall use this service so they usually have you over a barrel.

at the (slight) risk of being pedantic, I would point out that you cannot be held over a barrel whilst standing with your back to the wall...

- and nn, you're starting to sound like dear Eric (Pikey, et al) - he had an eye for the slightly lewd 'double entendre' - it's a fine tradition, keep it up! (OOPS!)

Could you clarify what this is about. I am totally confused. What house? Where? What auction?> What £100 for what? Is this something we have all missed?

(sorry blatant plug)

You can advertise your property on Lincguide for £30 for 30 days and your ad will get seen by alot of people.

most auctions take place over a 4 week period

the properties to be auctioned are cataloged and the catalog distributed to the customer list and also adverts appear in the papers on property day

being the uk not one red cent is paid up front the vendor has a solicitor to prepare the legal pack which now has to be in the form of an exchange ready HIP.

At least 3 viewing times are allocated per property and the legal pack is available at least 1 week before the auction date

I would say that property at auction tends to be a minimum of 25% below market value

I never saw any advertising for this auction and I was hoping to go along again. Now I understand it was a silent auction which is just a way of getting customers in your office. I think you have every right to be angry Daisy especially if you were not aware of this from the start. There is always another horror story here, when will we learn to be wiser to the antics of these professional people?

Petez. "You can advertise your property on Lincguide for £30 for 30 days and your ad will get seen by alot of people"

Roughly how many people will see your advertisement. £30 a month seems very reasonable to me - but where do they advertise?

Thanks

So the last auction didn't go well someone mentioned earlier. Last time there was a whole page in the Cyprus Today paper or was that another company that had an auction. You must be livid Daisy as I would be in your situation if you didn't realise it was an auction behind closed doors. Never heard of a silent auction must be a new thing I suppose in the uk.....!!!!!!

Re Message 15

Hi No1doyen

The Lincguide site has between 300-500 visitors per day.

Approx 70% of these are new visits.

So if you advertise for 30days your ad could be potentially seen by over 10,000 different people give or take a thousand.

http://www.lincguide.com/for-sale

Our visitors are increasing every month too. (blatant plug over, there are other north cyprus property sites available)

Does a silent auction mean sealed bids? I heard the geezer who normaly does the auction bit for D&B got the boot thats probably why the the things turned chaotic. Swedish prices for the old Bangladeshi service comes to mind, as Negative Nicks Uncle percy used to say.

A silent auction is simply sealed bids. This was a Donaghue & Beyler attempt to sell property. I saw a single leaflet gathering dust at the Chateau Lambousa hotel market last Saturday. Be interested to know how successful it was.

Dixie Normus : You really should get your facts right before mouthing off.

Mark Weavers is a very good friend of mine and ......... not that it's any business of yours, but I will put you straight : He did not get "the boot" as you put it - he left D&B of his own accord. After being in the Real Estate business for some 20 years he has decided to pursue a new career. Personally, we wish him all the best in his new venture.

I will not be responding to any other inane remarks.

I was under the impression that an auction took place in a room where people raised paddles in an attempt to buy an item/property at its lowest bid! (correct me if i am wrong) Therefore i happily paid one hundred pounds for this privelege.

However, the advertising lasted less than a week and there was no venue for raising your paddle, for this i was not aware...(being of the old school mind where you go to do this)

Apparently the new way of bidding, is to go into the shop and ask to see what is on offer...again, correct me if i am wrong, but, isn't this what you do when you are simply looking for a place to buy???

Have i just paid for free advertising.....??? (free for DnB...not me, obviously)
