This was a really interesting website - I shared it with others in my office this afternoon and everyone was logging in to see what came up for their memorable villages and towns.

I used to live in Ilford as a child and all my mother's family lived around the Plaistow/Stratford/West Ham area.

The old photographs showed up a number of old shops and sites that I remember as a child

I left Louth in Lincolnshire 50 years ago, so it brought back many happy memories, as I was also married there. I hadn't got any pictures of my birthplace , so thanks HAPPY FEET.

Brilliant site. I actually found a picture from 1955 of the very house we lived in when I was a baby, in Drumlarig Square, Hawick. Wish my dad was still here to see it, he would have liked that picture.

Glad people have found some fond memories of the past.

Hi Suffolk,

I was born in West Ham, and went to the technical collage .

Anyone's father work in the East End Docks, my father worked at the Royal Abert/India Docks.

Thanks for the link. Found photos of where I lived as a young child. Haven't been there for 50 years, so it was lovely to see the village pond again.

what a brilliant web site - just spent half an hour wallowing in nostagia looking at some of the pictures of places I have lived at.
