PRESIDENT DEMETRIS Christofias yesterday cancelled the planned meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat due to a stiff neck, which appear to have been brought on by the UN’s cooling units.

The meeting would have been the second this week, coming on the back of Wednesday’s meeting where the two leaders discussed various proposals on ‘executive’ power in a united Cyprus.

Their two aides, Georgios Iacovou and Ozdil Nami, met instead at the UN, where they discussed issues covering external relations under the governance chapter. The two leaders are due to meet again next Wednesday and Thursday.

After unburdening themselves of their gripes, the two sat down to discuss the different proposals brought to the table to overcome th
