No i never had to buy a round. When i went to work today and looked at my desk i noticed a piece of wood had been placed on it.On closer inspection i realised that it had been crafted very similar to that of a head stone that would be used on a grave.I picked up the piece of M.D.F. and the inscription on the head stone read,

IN MEMORY OF PAUL BRODERICK

MAY HE REST IN PIECES.

My heart must have missed a beat and i felt physically sick. The incident has been reported and obviously i am very worried,

Paul.

Maybe it has something to do with Cyprus, cause if he is made redundant, he may not then be able to visit Cyprus and freinds......

Paul,

I think its a threat and should be taken seriously. Did you have any say in the list of redundancies? You should report it to the police.

Bigmart,

C44 is like a small community and we talk about all sorts of things here. Of course Cyprus is the main topic but we are all supposed to be humans and anything to do with humanity is of interest to all of us. I never understand why people try to draw attention with heartless remarks like yours.

Newlad,

I agree with message 12 this needs to be reported to the police. This may have seemed funny to somebody but it could have caused a heart attack on someone less able than yourself. Definately NOT funny.

That is terrible. I was threatened by my builder who said he was coming in the night to burn my house down whilst I was asleep in bed. it leaves you feeling very vulnerable and I didn't sleep properly for weeks. I hope whoever played this sick prank is caught & punished Paul. Take care.

Glad to see you have at last read the rules of the board, not bad considering you have been a member since 29/03/2008.

All you need now is to learn how to interpret them. Only another 16 months and you should be there.

Not nice, I have been redundant a number of times and it takes a while to sink in that it is not your own fault. It may be the economy, it can be bad management and sometimes it is just that way.

Hi Paul, who ever did this is seriously disturbed. Hope the police are now involved, even if it was meant as a joke (which I don't think it was) it is very very sick. Can understand why you do not want your nearest and dearest to know but maybe it would be better if it was broken to her as gently as possible as this headcase may know where you stay and it would be better if your family were aware of the situation.

I do hope it is a sick joke but please take care and keep all of us on the Forum informed.

Thoughts are with you.

Thanks for all the kind words, and Bills quips. This isnt the first time that a situation very similar to this has arisen.A few years ago when we where going through a redundancy situation, one of the managers started to receive death threats to him and his family. He had to leave the company to escape the "scum low lifes" his words at the time,

Paul.

Paul. Don't worry about these people. As long as you've reported the matter to the authorities then you will be fine.

People who make threats like this rarely do anything about it. It's always the silent one's that you should worry about.

Take care mate.

please Paul inform the police. It is your family not just you. You might think you are a real life Bruce Willis or Clint Eastwood. This is serious. I know on the Forum things become a joke, but please believe me this is something you can not do alone. Please fix it and inform the police.

Did you report this incident to senior management? Might be a better idea to let them do the investigating.

One would think the Police would dust it for finger prints, then take the prints of all in the Company (with the caveat they would be destroyed, after comparison with the threat - in their presence, whether the culprit is found within the company or not). I hope the person is found.

Hi mate,

I'd be like you , broad shoulders, whoever the coward is knows you and where your desk is but fails to have the balls to confront you with whatever problem they have with you.

As on the work front, just remember, "when one door closes another slams shut in your face" only joking!

I'm 100% sure with the qualitys you have (except the Hull Kr thing!) you would find another job easily.

But i'd be looking now, there is no such thing as a job for life.

And bazilbrush, big mart etc when youve contributed as much to this site as Paul then hes more than entitled to share whatever with us, what do you want, or expect. theres heavier boards out there if you want that kind of thing

Regards,

Keep your chin up mate.

Hi All,

Last Friday i was given the name of the person who had made the head stone. So the week-end was spent thinking what my next step should be.On Monday morning i confronted this person on a one to one basis and asked him if he had made the head stone with the death inscription on.And to my astonishment he admitted to making it.I then told him that he had two options, either he would be dismissed instanly for gross mis-conduct, or we sort out this matter by stepping outside. He chose the latter,

Paul.

Hey newlad,

This geezer must be good at his job. I'm not sure I could employ somebody knowing he feels that strongly about your well being.

Newlad, would it now be sensable to ask izzet to take this thread away as sure as heck you dont want this person to get hold of what you have wrote? just a little worried at how these things can go against the employer...
