| UK is finally top of World Economic Forum's Financial Development Index as shown on http://www.weforum.org/pdf/FinancialDevelopmentReport/Rankings2009.pdf. Last year they were 2nd but in 2009 they finally made it to the top. Australia were 2nd, US 3rd and Singapore was 4th. Turkey was 44th. If you read the other post you'll get a totally different story, but at least this one is based on fact. The "sinks below Nigeria" quote was the give-away. Mal |

| I'll do it for you Malsancak. Here's your link : http://www.weforum.org/pdf/FinancialDevelopmentReport/Rankings2009.pdf The difference between the two rankings are that my post referred to 'Stability' rankings and your link refers to 'Development' rankings. Two entirely different rankings. Therefore my post stands in that Britain sinks nelow Nigeria in financial stability rankings. That is based on FACT. No need to apologise. |

| and as I said in the other post, I am also right. I apologise if you thought I was criticising you but I still can't find the statistics the article was based on. My internet went down for 45 minutes I've not had much time to look. If you put your head in the fridge and your feet in the oven, on average you will feel just right. Mal |

| Thanks for that but it's Turkey specific and not about world ranking. I tried searching the weforum for "financial stability" ranking and there is nothing on the website. I am beginning to doubt the intentions of the article I'm afraid. According to the source cited in the article, "The rankings are based on over 120 variables spanning institutional and business environments, financial stability, and size and depth of capital markets, among other factors" so it looks like they've take one of these variables and created an article title which makes it looks like UK is failing when overall it is top. This is very suspicious in my eyes, OK for a sensationalist rag like NCFP but not acceptable for a serious financial website There is a lot of this UK pre-election propaganda going around at the moment.
