Yes. All common cards, Visa and Mastercard, are widely accepted. Small restaurants/cafes do not accept cards. All ATM's except all debit and/credit cards for cash withdrawl transactions. Many give the menu options for English too.

Only HSBC Bank ATM's give you the option to take out Sterling. This can be an advantage as the Credit/Debit Card company in the UK can give a poor exchange rate plus extra fees for Foreign Currency withdrawls.

Suggestion if you have time get a Nationwide Credit and Debit card as Nationwide don't charge commission for withdrawals abroad and the conversion rate they use for their credit cards is the one for the day of withdrawal.

The Post Office credit card is also commission free when used abroad.

Dont forget to tell your bank you will be using overseas cos they can think its been stolen. Some charge extra for overseas transactions remember.
