Is a legal method of capturing live birds by stringing a fine mesh net between two tall poles?

that then captures the birds and holds them (In a state of Panic) until the perpetrator comes along and puts them out of their misery?

I know that "hunters" have various differing techniques but this one seems a bit OTT and extremely cruel.

Savages !

About time these people moved into this century and stopped carrying out practices that have been outlawed in most civilised countries for years.

They out to be trying to preserve the fragile eco-system not destroy it, what does it take to make them realise the damage they are doing ?

no, in TRNC it is not allowed! also not allowed the "glue-stick" which are prepared with a special berry and honey.. if you see traps like that inform your local police - if you can do pictures and also if you can, picture the one who does this. Dont try to stop them on your own as they can get quite agressive as it is fined quite heavy.. also send an email to Doğan Şahir, dogansahir@neu.edu.tr or dgnsahir@kktc.net - 0090 533 86 5465 - he is the founder of the Green peace movement in TRNC and has good contacts to politicians..
