Hi,

Dont know if you know but the David Haye fight is on 8th November, 3am which probably means more like 4/5am. We will be showing at The Old Mill, Ozankoy for people that are interested. However, we will only be opening IF enough people are pre-booked. We will be asking for a 20tl deposit, returnable on arrival, just as a way to ensure people actually turn up.

Bacon/sausage sandwhiches will also be available....

For further details, please call 0533 8446647 or email ladylittle30@hotmail.com

Thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah

As you know im very interested and will be there for the fight, hopefully a few more fans will be there too.

The last haye fight i watched there, in the all hours, was a brilliant night. Hopfully we can get a night going like the last one, what better place to watch the fight in the very village where he trains..However, he has a big battle ahead, Nickolay is 7"2, and is a whopping.! 8 stone heavier, i think haye is 6"4, 6"5. i still believe haye can do it thou. Ill be there with my 20tl and a few more.! Come on lads, need a few of us up for this, if its half as good as the last one a watched there it'll be a fantastic night..

P.s Good luck David..

RE msg 2, kelvin: (...) if its half as good as the last one a watched there it'll be a fantastic night. (...)

Hmm. Two thousand years after lions tore people apart for a cheering crowd... Two thousand years after gladiators killed each other for a cheering crowd... Two thousand years later people cheer for two men (or women!) who deliberately try to hit each other so hard that (brain) damage is inevitable. (*)

I don't wish boxing people luck - I wish these young people would use the little brains they obviously have.

(*) There is not one brain surgeon in this world who says different.

RE msg 7, kelvin: Thank you for your kind invitation to play a chess match - I'm prepared to meet you tomorrow at Guido's in Alsancak (every Tuesday from 2 pm)... However, I will not join you for the boxing match. I started my life as a journalist in Holland in the sports section of a national paper and I have seen more "boxing gala's" than I now care to remember. From a boxing fan I've become anti - finally I favoured non-physical contact sports. Yes, I'm a baseball fan and football (with a good referee) is acceptable. I hope you have a nice evening - unfortunately boxing is still legal.

Yeah, "the fight". In Nürnberg, Germany. Haye, who fights the "Beast from the East" in Germany on Nov. 7. The 28-year-old said he hoped to get under the giant Russian's skin to the point where the champion steps into the Nuremberg ring with real hatred clouding his vision.

"I always fight better when my opponent's angry," said Haye, who traded insults with a 'look alike' Valuev in hooded robe and Halloween fright mask before punching the head off a lifesize cardboard cutout.

A quote.

Haye: "I'm going to get him in a position where he really wants to not only beat me but to kill me".

The "Noble Art of Self Defence", ain't it?

Blood in the ring! And the crowd is cheering! Hit him hard, David! Finish him! Surgeons fighting in a Nuremberg hospital to keep one of the stupid young men alive. Be proud of your "champ", crowd! Bah.

DutchCap,Boxing doesn't even come in the top 10 of dangerous sports.More people die every year whilst going fishing.

Don't believe me?

Hooligan: I have noticed your rather primitive way of thinking before and coming up with your link is proof once more. Boxing is not only dangerous - it's a disgrace. The ultimate aim is the knock out and that means deliberately trying to damage an opponent.

I found more convincing text than your 'funny' link: "This about sums up the story of Boxing's latest fatality..... Johnson, who absorbed at least two dozen unanswered punches to the head and body, collapsed in his dressing room after the referee stopped the fight in the 11th round. He did not regain consciousness after emergency brain surgery and doctors eventually decided to remove him from a life support machine when his kidneys failed and his heart stopped beating." Source: http://is.gd/4gQjz

I don't have the illusion that I can fight stupidity, so just for the record - more here: http://is.gd/4gQru

You may try "punch-drunk" in Google also. "Normal" for a lot of boxers.

The truth: People who pay to watch a boxing match (in the hall or in the pub) subsidise a potential killing.

DutchCap,I never said boxing wasn't dangerous, just that there are more dangerous sports out there.

As I said before, more people die whilst fishing and riding horses but this *fact* seems to escape you.

Please put things in pespective.Tragic things do happen in a boxing ring but also at equestrian events, cave diving, parachuting and even crown green bowling.

How many people die every year from smoking cannabis?Your motherland made it legal but it doesn't make it right though does it?

Hooligan, you miss the essential point. Yes, there are unfortunate accidents in all kinds of sports. But in boxing the ultimate *aim* is the brain damaging knock-out. Let's forget all the other delicate parts of a human body a boxer can hit - errm, to "win".

P.S. Some other remarks in this thread are so silly that I refuse to reply.

Dutchcap, some may say that boxing is no different to chess.2 people square up to each other and use their guile, cunning and learned know how to out fox and out wit their opponent in order to win.No boxer enters the ring to inflict brain damage on their opponent and to say so just shows ignorance.

How many world champion chess players have you seen shopping at Supreme?

David Haye has done many good things for this adopted country of ours and I for one will be cheering him on.

RE msg 27, Hooligan (who seems to have some problems with my nickname on this board): (...) Why is it when someone contradicts you or offers another opinion to yours you refuse to reply? (...)

=> I have replied to all posts and remarks as long as they were related to boxing. I've ignored silly remarks.

Hooligan: (...) No boxer enters the ring to inflict brain damage on their opponent and to say so just shows ignorance. (...)

=> Whatever comparisons you like to make ("chess and boxing"! - sorry, too ridiculous for serious comment): brain damage is an INSEPARABLE ELEMENT of this fine "sport" boxing. Nobody can deny that. Boxing calls on the lowest instincts of the human race. One of them can be called a very unhealthy bloodthirst.

=> Promotion of TRNC by a country name on a boxer's short?! With the shouting lowbrows and their "ladies" around the ring? You must be naive and out of arguments to write that. [ more ]

Post 29 continued.

Promotion of the TRNC is done by people who use their brains instead of having them damaged by blows on the head.

I wish you all a fine evening with a beautiful knock out 15 seconds before the last bell. So the winning boxer can see that his opponent is really unconcious ...8-9-10! after having been counted out. Ambulance, please. All doctors ready?

If so would you be man enough to come out and say so?

RE msg 33, minertor: (...) Is "ladies" meant to imply that they are the opposite? (...)

=> Minertor, a small journalistic lesson is necessary now. If you quote, you should quote the essential words. I wrote: "With the shouting lowbrows and their "ladies" AROUND THE RING?" (My capitals now). I didn't imply any other ladies, because they obviously prefer NOT to be around the ring. In my life as a young sports writer I've been very near to the ring (too) many times to know what I'm talking about.

RE msg 33, minertor: (...) If so would you be man enough to come out and say so? (...)

=> This is not the first time you write this kind of invitation. I don't appreciate a third time. It's not my habit to finish a difference of opinion on a bulletin board with words some people could take as an unacceptable threat.

=> Your grandson may go (goes) to Afghanistan, but not attached to a Dutch army outfit. Last week a majority in Dutch Parliament (from the left* to the right*) made it very clear to the Government that any longer involvement of the Dutch army in 2010 will not be tolerated. Too bad for your grandson, because he could hardly be in more caring hands.

* So my view on this unholy Crusade in Afghanistan is supported to my satisfaction.

P.S. Either the UN (NATO partners and others) have the job done the way it should - or the "building up" of Afghanistan is abandoned. Young men from many countries are now dying without results. Not only for this reason I oppose that.

Hans, no journalistic nor any other lesson is necessary, be man enough to answer the question, is "ladies" when written in parenthesis, intended to denote that they are anything but, ladies. Where is the "unacceptable threat", it is merely a question, are you man enough to say what you mean and not hide behind insinuation? Obviously not.

Before we came back out here, less than two weeks ago, our eldest grandson took a couple of days leave to be with us. He said he would be going to Afghanistan next March, before we go back to UK. He said he was going over with the Dutch army, not something easily made up or misunderstood.

As to your statement that you've been near the ring so you know what you're talking about, you don't.

See what you've done now Gooligan. You've upset poor Hans so much that his syntax and punctuation have gone all to pot. Most unbecoming of a self professed whatyamaycallit.

And he offered me "a small journalistic lesson"
