Hi there myself and two other nurses have been approached by a lovely lady who used to run until 18months ago, a volunteer advisory group mainly to pick up on the ex-pats and in fact anyone who was not a member of the BRS.

For instance if somebody broke a leg or was housebound we could arrange for somebody in the area to do shopping, if bedbound as registered nurses we would assess and arrange for carers to attend. The carers unfortunately would have to be paid but this will be worked out between yourselves and them. We will have access to wheelchairs, mattress's and a hospital bed which I understand will need a wee bit of welding done so will need to find someone who can do that for free. We still have a lot to do until we are up and running but hopefully it won't be too long.

Can all who are interested e-mail angiebowen@yahoo.com

We will need people from Esentepe Guzelyurt every place in between and beyond. Thanks

Chris

Even though your head my be in the wrong place by supporting the Glasgow blues, your heart is firmly in the right place. If you could use a TRUE Glasweegian who supports the Green, then count me in for driving. I am in Ozankoy.

Mr Vince,

If you could send your details to Angie on the e-mail address we will get back to you as soon as we have something firmly in place.

May support the Gers but my rugby team plays in Green. (Hawick)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Chris

Hi all,

Im sure there are lots more of you out there that can spare a few hours a week to help out with this worthwile project, once it gathers momentum!

Dont forget to email angiebowen@yahoo.com if you can offer your services, either as a driver, carer, qualified nurse or even just a spare pair of hands.

All will be appreciated.

You never know, one day it may be you who needs the help!!!!

We had a few enquiries this weekend for carers, thankfully we were able to help. But we really need more.

Even if you have never done this before don't worry its not rocket science and we will be doing some training so you won't feel as if you are thrown in at the deep end. First time out you will be accompanied by a trained nurse.

You might even enjoy it, and you will be making a difference to somebody's life and to that of their family.

2 Lovely ladies yesterday agreed to become carers they have never done this kind of work before but are willing to do so after some training.

Also a reminder we now have wheelchairs, crutches etc if anyone needs to borrow them (a small deposit will be required)

We now have a new e-mail address one that everbody involved with this project can access so Angie and I can get a break from time to time.

trnchealthcare@gmail.com so would appreciate if all enquires come to this address.

Also in the next couple of days will be getting new telephone number which we will make available. Unfortunately it is costing us a fortune at the moment in phone calls using my phone. So if anyone is feeling generous can they donate a Turkcell phone card by leaving it at either JK's bar Lapta or at Guido's in Alsancak.

Thanks

Chris

p.s. needing to change the name to nursebeggar!

Still really short of volunteers to the east of Girne.

We are having to send a carer from Karsiyaka to Catalkoy twice a week! Surely someone in the east has some spare time on their hands!

Chris you know I would if I could but

1] I'm not much good with bodily fluids

2] I think that you mean in the TRNC not in the UK.
