Magolina: find one of the 30+ reservoirs in Northern Cyprus and enjoy bird watching. If you hadn't hidden your email address I could have sent you a map with all the reservoirs.

mint1955 & Woodspeckie: I'll upload a map to my server and inform you later (email) how to download, unzip and print it yourself. I'll do it around the week end because tomorrow and Friday I'm busy 'on the road' making the map for "The fifth Charity Route". More about this good cause later on this board...

Hans - well, it made me chuckle!

I would have liked to have had some conversation with you - you were, of course, immersed in a game of chess. Perhaps another time?

I will look forward to it. Incidentally, you looked, pretty much, as I imagined you to look!

Is that good or bad

Warm regards.

Jean(nie) whatever you like. You'll know what I mean.

Hi Magolina,

The is a book by Steve Cale, called Where to watch birds in northern cyprus, here is the link for his site

http://www.steve-cale-artist.co.uk

There is a great bird watching place at Sadrazamkoy called Golya cafe, with a roof terrace which can be used as a veiwing platform, the area is breath taking and the wildlife is good. The cafe co-owner Mazhur is an endless stream of local information and cooks some damn fine food also.

Golya is also on map 14 in the Steve Cale book.

Hope this helps you.

RE msg 14 Jean(nie): (...) Is that good or bad? Warm regards. (...)

=> Good or bad - depends on "how warm" your regards are..? Jean(nie), every Tuesday from 1 pm I'm available for my ladies fanclub*. Alas, only 60 minutes and then I have to play chess.

* Or you and Paul and Trix and I have a drink when it suits you: call 0533 864 5433 and it will happen! Best regards to you and Paul, Hans Doeleman.

RE msg 30, Woodspeckie: (...) Hans. how are the reservoirs marked on the map? (...)

=> Woodspeckie, open the map (double click after unzipping) and enlarge to 50, 85 or 100%. The reservoirs are in blue with the Turkish name near them.

P.S. If you have a problem, let me know here which software program you use to open the map.

Hans - my very sincere apologies.

Your message number 16. Have only just picked this up. We would delighted to meet you and Trix for a drink - anytime - not just during the precious hour you have put aside for your 'ladies' prior to your chess match but at any time you find convenient. Unfortunately, we will not return to NC until June 2010 (good news for some, I daresay), but be sure to keep in touch and we'll definitely make a date.

With warm regards to you and yours.

Hello All

There is indeed a Bird Protection Society in Northern Cyprus called Kuskor, and they would be very interested in your records of sitings kuskor@gmail.com . The Reservoirs are certainly great places for bird watching , and Haspolat in particular (Sewage Farm) is an excellent site. If you can manage the trip, Karpaz is very good, especially at this time of year. Steven Cale's book is very good. He is very keen and spent a lot of time organising it.

Good Luck all you twitchers

Stop sending me email about the map "30 TRNC reservoirs +", please. I've broken the download link and the map is no longer available.
