Hi,

We have recently visited Girne with the view of buying a property to eventually retire to in a few years time, but to use as a holiday home in the near term.

We have found a house in Lapta being constructed by Greatstone Construction and from viewing some of their completed properties, they appear to be of a good construction and have a good quality finish.

Has anyone dealt with this company before? and can give a recommendation or otherwise.

We were unable to meet with the builder himself, as he was out of town for a couple of weeks.

Many thanks.

Shirl,

I assume you are on the Lapta 1 site, that is all but finished?

We are looking at one, just across the way at the back of the cemetry.

We were there last week and had a look around a few on the Lapta 1 site and had a cup of tea with a couple who have already moved in.

Yes I agree that the quality looked very good. I am waiting for a reply to a few questions ~I have posed, but I understand he is away on Military Service at the moment.

We're having a Villa built by Tas and his team in Malatya, Nothing but praise for Greatstone especially when you hear all the 'horror stories' about other builders. Tas always keeps in touch and sends photos of the Villa frequently. We're looking forward to going over at the end of next month to see the progress. If you're intending to buy would reccommend Greatstone.

Lippylush, Jazmin, Shirl & Flossie,

Thanks very much for your recommendations, I have not heard of one person who has not been greatly satisfied with both the service Tash provides or the quality of the product receieved.

I am however waiting for him to reply to some questions I posed to him a few weeks ago. I know he's been away for a few weeks but thought he was back last week.

Can anyone give me his email address incase I have sent it to the wrong address. I have used info@greatstonecyprus.com & greatstone@superonline.com, which I was given by a resident in Lapta a few weeks ago.

Many thanks

Sue,

That's great, the email address you supplied is the correct one. I have a reply already. No wonder I didn't get any replies, mine was wrong.

If I do have any other questions and I may well do, how can I contact you away from this forum? I don't want to ask detailed questions on here?

I purchased a villa from Great Stone on the Esentepe park project eighteen months ago, as a new build, it it almost complete, Great Stone throughout the construction have been great to deal with, the standard of build is superb, the changes we had done to the house were never a problem to them and all completed to a high standard.

Before we chose Great stone we did the round tour of estate agents, but Great stone propities always stood out from the rest of the houses we looked at because of the standard of build and locations that these houses were built at, and also the honest attitude of the developer.

We look at Tass and Reyhan as more as friends than our builders, what you see is what you get, no airs and graces, if they say they will do somthing, they will do it, I have no problems with recomending them to anybody who is looking to bua a property in Northen Cyprus, if anybody has any qusetions they would like to ask please contact me at: backbadge@aol.com

Hi,

I was the original poster of the "Name the good boys", thread on one of the other boards and spoke very highly of this company, to the extent, that a number of people contacted me directly, and you all know who you are, I always praised Tash highly and the standard of the build.

However, sometime down the line I am having to reconsider my opinion, do not get me wrong, we are now happy with the villa, but have found the service lacking. Without going into details, we sort of fell out over the snagging list, we were waiting for updates before final payment was made, and no information was forthcoming, I sent the snagging list a number of times and asked for an update, all I received back was, "we will try and do as much as we can" in the end solicitors were involved, and it was admitted that our e-mails were being ignored. This was not the service from them I had been used to, and I feel that the relationship has been severely sallied, and as we are neighbours our next meeting will be interesting.

I am still glad, we bought the villa, and again state I am now happy with the build, but for gods sake get a good office team together, and the last thing you do is ignore the customer, yes, I know many of you will reply and say, had no trouble, always sends photos (don't forget he needs to send the photos like anyone else to get the next payment). Maybe he bit of more than he could chew, and we got the short end of the straw, so be it.

Would I still recommend them, well, yes.

We signed our contracts with Greatstone Construction more than two and a half years ago on the Esentepe site. All seemed to be going well until end of last summer. Very little happening on site, all workers seem to be on Lapta site or new Esentepe site. As with other builders this would suggest it is because they get much larger stage payments in the beginning of the build. Then have a lot of 'finishing' for small returns in the final stages. Such a shame really, because I too was singing their praises up until last year.

Hi all,

We too are at Esentepe 1. Our contract is now in default.

In the early days we spoke well of the developer, and recommended them without reservation

It seems that they are now sufferring from the North Cyprus Developer Syndrome. Get as much money out of them as you can, and then the antics start. Mushroom Management.....

Keep them in the dark, and occaisionally throw S----. at them.

Greatsone have 4 sites in development, and in our opinion have bitten off more than they can chew.

They have to our knowledge a bunch of decent and supportive clients, and need to sit down with them, and work together to resolve any difficulties.

No one doubts the developers good faith in the early stages, but as is often the case in business, the best laid plans of mice and men!............

Hi All,

Well credit where credit is due.

Workmen moved back unto Esentepe 1. Progress is dramatic.

Site COMPLETION within 6 months.

It seems the developer is back on course, 12/6 months late, but we can all live with that if the job is right.

Keep up the good work Greatstone. You have an excellent reputation, and it seems unfair if that is sullied.

If you talk to your clients (PR) and tell them what is happenning. and you learn to understand that your clients are entitled to what is clearly stated on their contracts, then

you have the basis of a successful Company."Mushroom management does not work!!!!!

We wish you well, and every success. There is no mileage, in hiding behind a legal system

that does not offer justice, but allows delays to disguise injustice. You are above that!

I hope that these comments are not premature, but at THIS point in time, I think Greatstone Constructions Limited, should be listed as one of the good guys.

Keep up the good work, You deserve it!

We bought a villa at Lapta 2 last June and were given a two year contract. Now having trouble selling our house in the UK with the slow down in the housing market. Just visited TRNC and met with Tash and his sister on several ocasions. They have been really good to us and have given us even more flexibility with future payments. He totally re-assured us and dealt with us in a very professional manner. He and his team really looked after us. Very nice people who we would strongly recommend. Left TRNC on Wednesday very happy and looking forward to going back next year.

Dear Chippy,

I am delighted to read your posting, and that you have been so well treated.

Let us hope that this heralds a change of Company Policy, and that we all will become beneficiaries.

Chippy...........GREATSTONE CONSTRUCTIONS LIMITED

Delighted that your posting is positive .How much money have you paid over?

We are almost 2 years on and very little prospect of an early completion.

Our experience is that last October we handed over a further £32000. Making a total of £104,000.....................we have received one E mail with photographs.(non internal)

Despite numerous requests they will not tell us when we can expect completion.

Our contract states very clearly that the swimming pool is included in the price. After 18 months the builder claims that is an extra. £17500. Now if I have to....................

(in respect of the final payment) my contract states " no more monies shall be paid, until the swimming pool and villa, are finished in good order"

I accept that our contract is not worth the paper that it is written on, but........I have offerred to Null and Void that contract, and replace it with one that reflects the actuality of the situation. I have offerred to pay the price for my villa, as shown on Greatstone Constructions website, without swimming pool.

Why won't Greatstone Constructions Limited agree to sit down WITHOUT PRECONDITION despite numerous requests,?.

Why are we being threatened? We are sick with worry!

There are usually reasons why information drys up .Whilst we do not wish to raise concerns there are significant savings being made by the builders,ie cuts in fixed overheads, that lead me to believe, that all is not well.

I CANNOT HOWEVER I TRY RECCOMEND GREATSTONE CONSTRUCTIONS LIMITED TO

ANY PROSPECTIVE BUYER.

Why do they not seek an amicable agreement WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS as requested?

Why do they not provide regular updates?

IT IS MY CONSIDERED VIEW, THAT NO ONE SHOULD BUY AN OFFPLAN PROPERTY, UNTIL

THERE IS AN AMMENDMENT TO THE SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE LAW OF 1845.

VERY SAD BUT IF YOU WANT YOUR DEEDS, AND YOU WISH FOR THE CONTRACT THAT

YOU SIGNED, TO BE HONOURED.

Sign the petition to ammend, The Specific Performance Law of 1845!
