DC no not one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder what they will think when they are bleeding to death! Where do they think we will get the blood to transfuse them.

Yes it could happen to YOU. This is not the UK where they have adequate blood stocks most times here they have none.

Dutch, nice one indeed. Sadly a rather nasty strain of malaria when I was a lot younger has always stopped me from giving any of the red stuff away. Tried again in 2006 and was shown the door and told it would be better if I kept it to myself - guess I am just stuck with it but if there is another way I could help, would be glad to try for you guys out there.

RE msg 11, waddo: You and I may need blood one day, although both of us were not *allowed* to give it for medical reasons. Is that an acceptable reason for others to stay out of NurseAwful's set-up also? I'll put it the hard, clear way: what would someone, needing blood, think (WHEN DYING) when he/she didn't think it interesting to help others?

Now 430 viewers of this thread - and the volunteers (POTENTIAL blood donors only! You don't have to donate blood now!) are not queuing.

PS. In Holland I was always taught that "queuing" was one the best British habits. Hmm.

450 viewers now.

P.S. The traffic accident victim BEFORE *you* ALSO thought he/she would not need a blood transfusion.

Computers are so interesting: this thread had 500 views now and *260* (TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY!) people clicked the URL http://is.gd/4nSxB . They saw the message on the displayed poster- and didn't bother to react!

I don't know, Nurse. 550 views and 275 people saw the poster! Obviously most board members are not interested. It's a defeat and maybe a very sad one - for the next victim of a traffic accident.

To make it even easier for people who want to help: you can now download the poster (with all details about becoming a blood donor - you will only be called when blood is needed!): http://is.gd/4qsIP The password to open the downloaded file is: donor

perhaps many of the board members who have viewed this are like me - would donate but are in the UK at the moment, not TRNC?

RE msg 24, jax47: (...) perhaps many of the board members who have viewed this are like me - would donate but are in the UK at the moment, not TRNC? (...)

=> The first aim of the database is to collect "Potential Blood Donors". We realise that not all expats live in TRNC permanently. In case a certain type of blood is needed (say A-negative) all potential donors get a text message in which they are requested to inform NurseAwful (Chris Offord) whether they are available or not. So, just now it is important to have in the database as many "potential" blood donors as possible. You are NOT requested to give blood NOW: just register as a "potential" blood donor! I hope this clarifies the situation.

sorry I misunderstood the aim of the posting ... I am no longer able to donate blood (did for many years) but I hope this scheme gets lots of potential donors soon

DC we are on a roll now another 2 this morning. Seems like the people in Lapta are more genorous than the ones in Catalkoy , Ozankoy and if fact think the west of Girne doing best. So come on the East fingers out and send those details in.

Just in case you all thought that we had forgotten about this I am afraid not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Met the Dutch Crusader this morning and he suggested we pay £100 PER PERSON for those that sign up.

I would like to think I know more than him (not about computers and databases) and you will all do it for free.

YOU CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY DONATING A UNIT OF BLOOD IN AN EMERGENCY.

One day that emergency may be YOU

Where does this £100 come from? I'm supposed to be the Treasurer, I need to know!

Next time you're in Town drop off the phone and I'll get it fixed, a couple of excellent mobile phone shops I know which only do repairs. Did my two the other day for 10TL.

Hi there,

Perhaps people are happy to continue donating blood emergency or otherwise through the BRS, who have called both myself and my husband to donate in times of emergency. This has been established for sometime.

Apathy is not always the case, just because you dont get the results you expect. Consider people may want to continue doing it with BRS.

I am not knocking what you are trying to achive, just dont keep berating people for not responding as you think they should.

regards

Lovinit

With all due respect I am not targeting any of the BRS blood donors. In fact many have specified they will only give blood if we are not a member of the organisation. This is being set up for all nationalities and we have quite a few non Brits on the database. I am not and have not at any time berated the BRS, I agree they do a wonderful job.

If I use bullying tactics at times it get results, so no harm done there and I do not apologise for it.

Think of it this way I am reaching the people in North Cyprus that the BRS are not!

Regards

Chris

I wo0uld love to give blood, but 1, I'm in the UK and 2 I have sexual relations with men. Therefore I am counted out. But what really sticks in my throat is that come a new World War my blood will be gladly accepted. Blood banks are just hypocrits.

Lindy have just got your text. The blood donors day at Girne is ran by the BRS. Easy way to join up is to go to the link on message 23 and sign up on line.

Thanks
