You must have some water (you know, that wet stuff that we used get out of taps) close to you. Lucky man.

Hi AlsancakJack,

I have a neighbour who has a well stocked garden,

with plenty of shade,

to hide wee beasties and other creepy crawlies.

Here's another one I noticed toay,

on an Oleander.

Caterpillar, length app 3.5 in/9cm...

I have to photo anything I find,

then send them to my 6 year old grand daughter,

she loves all these things

Hi Dee,

I think any caterpillar in your garden would be classed as a pest,

as all they seem to eat is leaves, and new ones at that :-(

Check the top of any Oleanders about, they love them.

Think yourself lucky there's no Koalas or Pandas about

Richard - do you EVER have anything constructive to add to ANY thread? Also, Escargot are snails - Grenoiulle are frogs. Don't mean to pee on your firework, but it does get just a bit tiresome.

And if we all use chemicals - then no moths and butterflies to pollinate, no food for the frogs and lizards either. I have a beautiful pink brugmansia whose leaves are full of holes - but I pick the caterpillars off and put them at the back of the garden, and if they are in a cocoon I leave them be. Have you ever seen a humming bird moth? They are a daytime moth and are really large, you can clearly see their long tongue which does give them the appearance of a humming bird. They adore lantana, which I grow purely for them (as its not a fav plant of mine). Please google them and the other moths and butterflies of Cyprus before you go crazy with killing chemicals, and also remember the knock on effect on the food chain!!!
