Hi Denise,



I have no idea where you will get white kittens from, you could try Kar. Just one word of caution, most pure white kittens are deaf and this of course leads to problems on the road unless of course they are going to be house cats.

Most pure white kittens are not deaf, there is a higher risk with blue-eyed pure white cats, but even then it isn't common. I have a friend who breeds them but do try KAR first. I have had 4 white cats (3 as adults and 1 as a kitten) from them, and they actually said they had trouble placing white cats. You might get lucky. Why a pure-white in particular? They have some trouble out here with sunburnt ears, and at the very least in the summer will need to be kept indoors during the day. Are you looking for a particular breed like a Van or an Angora or just "anything white"?

White kittens are like my missus. Selective hearing.........That should keep the peace, unless her indoors reads my post!!

KAR is your best bet. Support the good work they do.

He's nearly all white, 2 year old neutered male, house trained, very very loving, and happy inside or out - need to re-home him as leaving island at end of the month....

I've got two white lovely cute fluffy kittens. I've just bleached them and they're in the tumble drier at the moment and should be ready by the morning. They're long haired but you can have them short haired if you want.

Just so long as you take into account that white kittens (same as any other kittens) do not stay kittens for long. I agree with other posts on here - white cats are very often deaf and are difficult to look after. Our local Cat Protection League was recently trying to re-home one, which they found difficult due to the fact that he was deaf and would need special care and attention. They will also have problems with their ears in the climate.

Hi this is Erol's partner Karin, I organise kitten fostering for KAR. We have two lovely pure white kittens at the moment about eight weeks old, they are both socialised and housetrained. The Butler's wife is correct in saying that white cats have a tendency to deafness, (and sometimes blindness) it is the result of the gene that produces the white colouring unfortunately. However it is quite easy to test for ... we established early on that one of these two kittens is in fact deaf, the other ones hearing is fine. They are both with a fosterer at her home in Alsancak and can be viewed there. KAR asks for a donation of 50 TL when we home a cat or kitten. You get a fully innoculated/wormed kitten and when it is old enough we will pay for it to be neutered/spayed. Thank you for confirming that most white cats are deaf and indeed it is the gene that produces the white colouring that causes this problem. My nephew who is a vet, puts the figure at over 80%. If you decide to keep on looking for the white kittens denise, please make sure you have them tested for deafness.
