I read an article in Cyprus Today where hoteliers are bemoaning the fact that there are few tourists visiting TRNC. Last week we went to L.A. beach for a day out, lovely beach, sandy, safe for swimming, nice snack bar area, should be a great place to enjoy the delights of Northern Cyprus. We were charged 10 TL each for a sunlounger, that was a tad expensive as first of all we had to find two that weren't broken or downright dangerous, the sunshades looked older than me and were about as useful, all in all the beach area was very disappointing. We then went for some lunch, frozen chips and tasteless burger, still we persevered, let's have an ice cream, they had none, the freezer was like Mother Hubbards cupboard.

We live here so can take or leave any beach, there is plenty more, but for holidaymakers it's a different kettle of fish, they expect, quite rightly, value for money and adequate amenities, if I had been on holiday I'm not sure I would rush back there, or even to TRNC again.

as my old Uncle Percy used to say "they aye gorra clue"...

The TRNC is already a long flight and expensive place to travel too from the UK, the tourism board ought to have a long hard think about what they can do to the place to make it attractive to visitors - my first tip would be to clean up the litter on a) the beaches and b) where it has been dumped all over the place....

You only get one chance to make a first impression as i said up the Tumba last Tuesday evening....

I went to Kyrenia in September as a first holiday in the heat, for the past 6 years we have been in December/January for 1 month and hire a car to tour the island, never get fed up of that. I was appalled at the state of the beaches, the rubbish dumped on a beautiful beach was terrible. Last week a friend of mine who I know likes a beach holiday asked me about going to NC next year, I told her not to go because I know for a fact what she would have been saying to me when she returned. OK I am told there are some places OK but why should there be a charge. I go to Turkey in May & Sept each year, to different places and never have I come across a dirty beachand never had to pay, the roadsides are also clean, the councils go round every day picking the rubbish up. NC have a lot to learn someone should take a trip across the water.
