I need to pass on this information to my cousin who will be visiting TRNC in near future. What kind of question does immigration officer ask? What if he has a credit card instead of cash?

The person wishing to enter must provide the following to the Immigration Officer:

A valid passport or travel document

A hotel reservation (or provide the address he/she will be located during the visit)

A return ticket

Funds which amount to at least 50 $ for each day of their visit (for a period of 10 days)

Upon the satisfaction of the immigration officer to questions answered entry to the TRNC is granted

Since when has this been a requirement?

I was never been asked any questions by the immigration officer. I doubt if any of them even speak enough English to be able to question people as they enter.

Now I see where you are coming from. Don't take everything as gospel. That's the official way you get things done. The way they would like you to do it. But if you're just a visitor there's no need to worry, just collect your tourist visa at the immigration desk.

If you're coming to study or work then by all means fill in the forms and send to your local TRNC office to get a visa.

Your cousin will have no problems getting in as long as he is just coming to visit as a tourist. If he is here longer than 90 days then filling in the Pre-Visa forms is a good idea, rather than trying to get it done whilst he is in the TRNC.

When there is no pre-arrival visa, then how can local TRNC issue one?

TRNC is a small country and I don't think there are much decent jobs there, then how can people say people going there have intentions to work? If someone is so desperate to work in TRNC, then he better be washing plates/ become waiter in some TRNC hotel because TRNC generates much of its revenue from tourism.

Some months ago I had plans to start my studies in TRNC but everyone I consulted asked to disband any such plans because standards of TRNC is not that high. But for your information. Even if someone goes there as a tourist and then joins so

joins some university and pay all the fees and has decent money in a bank account for his accommodation, then he can apply for residency as long as he continues his studies.

And by the way I think TRNC is a only country in the world for which Pakistani nationals are exempted from visa. I was surprised when I came to know this. I think you are a British, things are a lot different for British citizens.

The citizens of European Union nations, Turkey, USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Australia and New Zealand do not require visa to enter the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Tourist visas are issued free of charge upon arrival in the country. Peoples of any other country not previously listed should seek advice from their nearest TRNC Embassy, Consulate or Representive Office.

Work permits are only issued in the TRNC and then the application is done by the employer who must show that no local person is able to do the job for which you are being employed. You are not allowed to be in the country whilst your prospective employer gains permission for you to work for them.

Becoming a student upon arrival and with a tourist visa is possible. The University will take care of all the paperwork for you but you really should have your visa in place before the start of the academic year.
