Vaccinations started today in the UK to most vulnerable. Looks like things can only get worse. The young girl Nurseawful refers to was eight months pregnant and was only 17yrs of age with no underlying health problems. Her immune system had been impaired because of her pregnancy. The decision to close the school was probably a good one as the young seem to be vulnerable and pneumonia hits fast and furious. Not nice.

Just been told by my Turkish teacher that Karaoğlanoğlu İlkokulu has been affected - 4 children and one teacher confirmed so far. School has been temporarily closed. Opinion among some Cypriots is that the recent weather, i.e. unseasonably warm days and cold evenings may have had an effect.

Apparently most wrinklies like me are unlikely to contract it. At last! A benefit of being old! Rob

Best to only go to crowded places like markets and banks as least as possible. Stock up a supply of food so that you dont need to frequent these places until the threat has gone or we get some vaccines here. I would include bars but there is nobody in them.
