I alway read Frank and Joans website with interest, the same as this one and others. Reading today on Franks site for October he has posted an e mail from a "John Sutherland" who obviously is "fed up" with Northern Cyprus but can anyone shed a light on what has gone on to make this man so angry from which I am assuming his business has gone wrong. If you read on http://www.frankandjoan.com I cannot understand why someone has gone as far as he has. Does anyone know what went wrong for this person? Seems very sad.

I to always read Frank and Joans website and enjoy what he has to say. Dont really know why this chap is being so piggy, not really interested at his squable with Frank and Joan.

I think every one has problems with some one or other, but this chap seems to be extreme.

Sounds a little like being hounded to me......

I did not realise he was still on the island. I know he had a few problems. One was his restaurant not taking off. Also, like Spider had problems with landlord in Karsiyaka plus family problems. Why he is having a snipe at Frank and Joan I dont know but there is probably a reason behind it that none of us knows.

government too, really they need to wake up! Too many people leaving due to work/business loss. They could make more money if they realised that s/e scheme does work, more expats would rather be legal than to try to keep dodging the tax man!

I'm leaving monday, Government lost my shopping money/living expenses/home/visitors/business



My friends left last month, their business lost the Government - peoples living costs/home/visitors

They actually had a huge business,with turkish employees too, and because the Government updated taxes and employment schemes that were impossible, they moved, thus losing a thrieving business in the Trnc.



All due to them being thick! sad but true!

At the end of the day, they don't care, and as long as they have their 4 hours of work aday ,for triple the average wage, why would they bother even trying to make their brain work!

Friends visited me this year. We spent half the holiday in TRNC (on the Kyrenia side with a stop in old Famagusta on the way back).



They were Brits with no interest or knowledge whatsoever about the 'Cyprus Problem' but were familiar with this Frank & Joan website and took all their info from that?



How the hell did they find it?

All I noticed when I visited the site just now was that none of the tabs numbered with years worked? All led to error messages.

I tried for the co.uk site they said their aggressor had set up and that didn't exist?

Eager if you read the website of Frankand Joan you will see that their container with some of their belongings has left NC and they will follow soon.



Beno 12- Frank and Joan are certainly not "green behind the ears" and have always given a balanced view on NC over the years. Thats my opinion and of course some people might not agree with that but it is his website and its just like a diary, he just tells you what they have done everyday whilst in NC. Try and read it all from the beginning if you can get access.



Oleander, Frank will in his own time give some feedback. Also think the guy John Sutherland said his website will be up and running in the future.

as I empathise with the situation it, it's not much better in the uk. My wokforce 2 years ago was 20 my workfoce now is 5. ( we are classed as in construction)

We are in a world recession and our government and finances are in the crapper, the only way to get revenue is from buisneses, and motorists. I even have to pay for water that falls on my units roof ( I am charges per square foot of roof space and pay accordingly) it cost my company aboot £2000 a year. + buisnes rates, we have to pay for a bin collection.

Sorry dont start me.

But just a little note out of the woking population at present. 51% of the working sector work for the government, 7% unemployed , so the 42% left have a lot to finance.

I used to read their web page and always enjoyed it and learnt quite a bit of interesting news from the papers and local info. They seem like lovely people. It is such a shame they are moving. I hadn't been on their page for quite a while so didn't realise they were going until I read this thread. I don't think Mr Sutherland can blame them for all his troubles. Sound like he is just trying to find someone to blame for his predicament. The global recession means that everyone has less money to spend and many businesses are struggling. I feel so sorry for Frank and Joan, they don't deserve to be treated like this.

I have always kept myself up-to-date with the news feed on Northern Cyprus via Frank & Joan's Website. I feel Frank gives a very open and honest account of everyday life in the TRNC.



This Mr Surtherland obviously has some serious problems going on in his head, surely it is not normal to set up a webpage and use someone elses identity to give a negative view of the TRNC? Seems like harrasment to me. Sounds like he needs help! Why would anyone want to harass a retired couple who are living their dream whether it is in the TRNC or France? I will certainly miss the regular interesting posts if they move on.

I've know Frank and Joan personally for many years and you really couldn't meet two nicer people if you tried. His online diary was originally set up so friends and family could track their adventures in Northern Cyprus, but ended up becoming one the of the most popular websites on the island. If you actually read back over the years Frank is actually quite critical on many apsects of life on the island - an honest account of the good and bad things about living here. He always replies to people who email him asking for advice and gives 'his' opinion - no financial gain - just good honest help!!



At the end of the day - people don't have to read the site. If you enjoy it - read it. If you don't - then don't.



I wish Frank and Joan all the best when they eventually make it to France and I really hope they contintue their online adventure when they get there - so we can all see if France is better than the TRNC...



...to many french people for my liking!!!

I think they are moving because of the good medical health care available in France. They are having problems selling their beautiful villa because of the dire economic situation in NC & it's on exchange land I believe.
