Surely this statement must end the farce of a possible solution.

“the Turkish Cypriot community cannot be treated on an equal basis with the Republic of Cyprus”.

Troodo

It has been obvious for a long time that the GC's do not regard TC's as equal partners in any solution that may or may not happen. The GC's want the 'Lions share' and that definitely will not happen.

Leopards do not change their spots that easily.

it's always puzzled me how the republic of "cyprus" can constructively negociate by:

giving nothing away except to agree a few catchy phrases

...although since I am trying to be objective am not saying they should or should not,

only that the process appears to be a total sham organised to please outside parties

continuing the isolations/blockade and trying to make the north suffer even more

and then acting surprised if nobody from the other side is willing to trust their goodwill

having rejected annan 2004 out of hand, which they were perfectly entitled to do,

kick the talks off with talat by both sides acknowledging annan is "dead",

only problem being that the north no longer seems willing to offer territory as a bribe,

while the south's position has also hardened eg., a new scheme to control all airspace

mercifully it is not for me to decide whether the process ends with a whimper or a bang

Varosha goes back to GC, before which any GC plane gets shot down invading Turkish airspace! Simple!
